An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on TUESDAY the FOURTH day of OCTOBER,
1955, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.
PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair
Wm. G. Newman
Wm. G. Lawson
Sidney S. Pugh
J. Sherman Scott
L. T. Johnston, Clerk
The following PERSONS on MOTION were heard:
1. Dr. Bernhardt solicited the position of Planning Consultant.
2. Clifford Schwalm discussed dogs and requirements of Humane Society.
3. Ken Pascoe agreed to do necessary carpentry work in renovating the
north part of Municip~l Building to offices.
MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Newman, that application be made to
the AttorneY. General to have a Magistrate's Court located at Pickering
Village to serve Pickering Township, Pickering Village, and Ajax.
CARRIED
CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Get references for Dr. Bernhardt from Mr. Tyrrell, Central Mortgage
and Housing, Markham Planning Board, and Mr. M. V. Jones, of Metro
Planning Board.
2. Get prices for renovation of north wing of Municipal Building.
BY-LAW NUMBER 210' (Third Reading)
The Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2109, to authorize the borrowing
of $36,500.00 upon Debentures for School purposes, arises and reports the
By-Law as read.
Mr. Bugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the Report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2109 be adopted, and that the said By-Law ben9w
read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and
that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2110 (Third Reading)
The Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2110, to authorize the borrowing
of $ 58,500.00 upon debentures for Public School purposes (School Section 3 W.),
arises and reports the By-Law as read,
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that the Report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2110 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be
now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same,
and that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the
Township of Pickering to amend By~Law Number 1876 and repeal By-Law Number 2107,
which provides for pensions to employees, and that same now be read a first time.
M~. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2111 to amend By-~w
Numb~~ 2107, which ppøvides for pensions to employees, be now read a second
time and Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that the report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2111 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be
now read a Third time and 'assed; that the Reeve and Cierk sign the same
and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
On MOTION of Mr. Newman, the meeting adjourned.
