An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY the TWENTY-SEVENTH day of
JUNE. 1955, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

1. Mr. Bennett of Liverpool Ratepayers' Association stated:
(1) THAT the Police Department had failed to co-operate in reducing <
speed of cars on Glendale Drive.
(2) THAT he felt that Sun Valley Swimming Pool water was not changed
often enough and
(3) Enquired about Fire Protection.

2. Delbert Goslin asked for a vault for his books upstairs. The Reeve <
appointed Messrs. Scott and Pugh to make inquiries.
The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Mrs. C. Grant stated that side line between Lots 20 - 21 in Range 2 was ~
very rough and needed calcium.
2. Proctor. Redfern and Laughlin submitted contracts for infiltration Gallery
for signature, and submitted necessary contractor bonds.
3. Richard Puckrin made application for a Wrecker's License in Lot 5 and 6,
Concession 6. Council investigate.
4. Town of New Toronto submitted a resolution for approval - that any
mentally retarded child be admitted to Ontario Hospital at Orillia
immediately, and if no space available, space be made available.
Approved by Council.

5. Mrs. Shaw. of Cedar Glen summer camp, asked for permission to build a
summer cottage 20 feet by 20 feet.

6. County Clerk submitted copy of 1956 Equalization B~-Law, Pickering
Township, ~9,945,567.00 or 19.4194%.

7. Resolution of Pickering Village approving alterations of School Section
4 West and School Section 2, that is, they agree to give up all lands
in School Section 4 West, west of Brock Road, for all lands in School
Section 2, east of Brock Road, north of southerly limit of C. N. R.
8. Miller Pavin~ Company, price Hot Mix, $ 6.00 per ton for:
Rouge Valley Road - approximately 2/10 miles
Alton-Road" lì miles
Ajax Road North of No. 2 Hway" 14 miles
Town Line " 6710 miles
9. T. M. Moore. Advice re closing sideline between lots 32 and 33, Con. 5.
10. R. R. Brown, Concession 7, Lot 13, applied for a Kennel License for 1955 \
and stated he ,~s a member of the Kennel Club.

11. Petition of ratepayers on Concession 2, asking that their road be re- \
calciumed. Council agreed to do this early in July.
12. Mrs. Jªckson, Rosebank, asked that Township improve path to lake on <
road allowance between Lots 30 and 31 so people would not trespass on
her lot. NO ACTION

MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr.. Scott, that permission be granted Mrs.
Shaw of Cedar Glen Park to erect a summer cottage 20 feet by 20 feet on her
property, providing she will enter into an agreement that said cottage will
not be lived in except during summer months, be personally used and not sold
or rented and that only one be built. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that R. R. Brown, of Concession 7,
Lot 13, Township of Pickering, be granted a Kennel License, subject to
approval of Assessment Department. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, that offer of $ 1,200.00 be
Gerhardt Hamann for Lot 4, Plan 538, be accepted by Treasurer and Deed
given. CARRIED
CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Ask F. J. Prouse to placard W. O. Bennett boat house - not to be lived in.
2. Contact Markham Township re their paying 50% cost of paving Town Line.
3. Direct the Road Superintendent to:

BY-LAW NUMBER 2095 (Two Readings)
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawsn, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Pickering setting apart a Township School Area of part of
the Township of Pickering to be known as School Area No.2, and that same
now be read a first time.
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that B¿-Law Number 2095 setting
apart a Township School area of part of the Township of Pickering to be
known as School Area No.2, be now read a second time, and that Council
go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
BY-LAW NUMBER 2096
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Pickering to assess the Separate School Supporters in the
Township of Pickering to provide funds for the purposes of the Catholic
Schools in the year 1955, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that By-Law Number 2096 to assess
the Separate School Supporters in the Township of Pickering to provide funds
for the purposes of the Catholic Schools in the year 1955 be now read a
second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that the Report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2096 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be
now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same,
and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

BY-LAW NUMBER 2097
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Corporation of the Township of Pickering to authorize the construction
of watermains, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Lawson seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2097 to authorize
the construction of watermains, be now read a second time and that Council
go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by }w. Ne~nan, moves that the Report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2097 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be nGi
read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that
the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2098
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Pickering to change the boundaries of Fire Area Number 1,
and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that By-Law Number 2098 to change the
boundaries of Fire Area Number 1 be now read a second time, and that Council
go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that the report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2098 be adopted; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the
same and that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2099
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of
the Township of Pickering to alter School Section No. 2 and Union School
Section No.4 West, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2099 to alter School
Section No. 2 and Union School Section No.4 West be now read a second time
and Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves that the report of the Committee of
the Whole on By-Law Number 2099 be adopted, and that the said By~Law be
now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same and
the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
On MOTION of Mr. Newman, the meeting adjourned.
