An Emergent Meeting or Council was held on TUESDAY, the TWELFTH day of APRIL,
1955, at 8 o'olock in the evening.

The rollowing CORRESPONDENCE was read:
l. South-West Pickering Fire Area 1, asking that calls outside their area
be $ 100.00 for first hour and $50.00 ror each additional hour or part
thereöf.
2. Norman Churcher, Old Rosebank Road South, oomplaining
(1) Cellar evacuation out on Lot 62. Dangerous.
(2) Well with wooden top on Lot 64. Not sare.
(3) All three roads to Rosebank unuseable. Cannot get fire protection
or doctor or ambulance.
(4) Will 'bill Township ror his oar damage.
(5) Cannot tax him for services he does not get.

Saul Schwartz, oomplaining on behalr or Playrord, Plan 407, Lot 22-23,
re ditch through his property. Will take action ir not f'ixed by April
20th next.

Proctor. Redfern and Lau~hlin, advising that required bond for Chesterhill
Developments Limited be , l40,000.00.
G. H. Cole, complaining about condition of Elizabeth Street road north.

Clerk advised Counoil that Toronto Humane Society:
(1) Would approve that dogs be destroyed by fumes from a car.
(2) Dogs will be reoeived for destruction each evening. Dr. Loos
confirmed that gassing dogs is humane.
The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
l.
Stanley Fairbairn produced names of his seven nearest neighbours, stating
that they would not oppose his barn being converted into a Dance Hall.

John Lay and Messrs. Simons and Reed from Western Assurance Company,
submitting prices on Township Insurance.
3.
c. E. Morley, submitting prices on Township Insuranoe.
Mr. DeSbriSa¡ and L. Livesay, presenting petition ror a water-works system
under Local mprovement Act, ror part of School Section l8. Claims to
have 84% or 9wners'·signatures.
MOVED by Mr. Scott, seoonded by Mr. Lawson, that our Engineers be authorized
to proceed with specirications ror filtration gallery and waterworks system
to serve west Rouge area, that they oall ror Tenders, and that they submit
a cost of such work to Clerk so that Chesterhill Developments Limited may
lodge a marked cheque ror this sum in case the Municipal Board should reruse
their oonsent. CARRIED

OVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that C. E. Morley be given the following
nsurance (1) Warble-Fly and Road Liability, including supplementary contract
O/lOO/lO" $632.00 and include Weed Spraying at a price of not more than $ 50.00.
2) Fleet and Police cars and south-west area fire engines, limits $100,000.00,
861.73. (3) Non-owned, $ 42.60 ror $ 1001000.00 coverage. (4) Claremont and
rougham Fire Trucks $ 100,000.00, coverage ::p 26.76 each. (5) Snow fence,
8,000.00 @ 90¢ premium. CARRIED
GREEp that (1) Municipal Building coverage be increased from $ 7,000.00 to
20,600.00. (2) Contents increased rrom $3,000.00 to $ 4,000.00 and (3)
own Hall increased from $ 6,000.00 to $ 10,000.00.
GREED that (1) Township garage be increased rrom $3,000.00 to $ 8,000.00.
2) Police " Building contents increased rrom $ 2,000.00 to $ 3,000.00. (3)
'ire Hall, East Woodlands, $ 5,000.00.

Have Police (or Dr. Loos) check excavation at Lot 62, Cowan Plan, well top
on Lot 64, Cowan Plan, and foundation on Hill lot in Hough Plan.
