An Emergent Meeting or Council was held on TUESDA~, the FIFTH day of APRIL,
1955, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

An applioation was received from Frank Gleeson for a Taxi Lioense, and as
Mr. Gleeson had a license for about five years excepting 1954, it was
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that a Taxi License be
granted Mr. Gleeson, subject to approval or Chief Hill. CARRIED
The Agreement of Chesterhill Developments Limited with the Township
regarding subdivision of' 256 lots in Broken Front, Range 2, Lot 34, was presented
and as it had been approved by our Solioitor, it was MOVED by Mr. Scott, and
seoonded by Mr. Pugh that Reeve and Clerk be authorized to sign same on behalf
of the Township. CARRIED
AGREED Mr. Mayhew of Chesterton Shores be permitted to rent road allowance
immediately west of his lot ror One Dollar per year providing he does not
interfere with pedestrians wishing to use this lot to get to lake shore.
MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that the rollowing employees receive
increases, as shown below, as recommended by the Board of Health:

1. Get letter under seal f'rom Chesterhill Developments Limited that they
will make payments on account water system as required by contractors
on approval of' Engineers.
2. Get prices on insurance for $ lOO,OOO.OO protection on all Township
motor vehioles; garage proteotion be increased from $ 3,000.00 to
$ 5,000.00{ and Municipal Building f'rom $ 7,000.00 to $ 12,000.00, and
contents, , 3,000.00 to $ 5,000.00.

of the Township or Pickering to employ an assessor, and tha~~ same now be

Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2084 to employ an
assessor be now read a seoond time and that Counoil go into Committee of the
Whole thereon.
The Committee or the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.

of the Whole on By-Law Number 2084 be adopted, and that the said By-Law
be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same,

Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves ror leave to introduce a By-Law of the v
Township or Piokering to assess the several public school sections and Union
Publio Sohool Sections in the Municipality of the Township of' Pickering to
provide funds for the purposes or the said School Sections in the year 1955,
and that same now be read a first time.

Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2085 to assess the
several Public School Sections and Union Public School Sections in the Muni-
cipality of the Township of Pickering to provide f'unds for the purposes of'
the said Sohool Seotions in the year 1955, be now read a second time and that
Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Newman, seoonded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the Report of the Committee
or the Whole on By-Law Number 2085 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now
read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that
the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Scott, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law or the
Township of Pickering to license and regulate the owners or public garages ~
withintthe Township of Piokering pursuant to the provisions of paragraph l2l
of subsection (1) of section 388 of the Municipal Aot, R. S. O. 1950, ohapter
243, and amendments thereto, and that same now be read a rirst time.
Mr. Pugh, seoonded by Mr. Newman, moves that By-Law Number 2086 to license and
regulate the owners of public garages within the Township or Pickering pursuant
to the provisions of paragraph l2l or subseotion (1) or section 388 of The
Municipal Aot, R. S. O. 1950, ohapter 243, and amendments thereto, be now read
a second time, and that Council go into Committee of' the Whole thereon.

employee salaries, and that same now be read a first time.

oertain municipal employee salaries be now read a second time and that Council
go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

Law Number 2073 be now read a second time and that Council go into Committee of
the Whole thereon.

the Township or Pickering to assess Police Area No. 1 for rates ror the year 1955,
and that same now be read a rirst time.

Police Area No. 1 for rates for the year 1955 be now read a second time and that
Council go into Committee of the Whole thermn.
The Committee or the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Soott, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the report of the Committee or
the Whole on By-Law Number 2089 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now
read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that
the Seal of the Corporation be arrixed thereto. CARRIED
AGREED to meet Tuesday, April l2, 1955, at 8 P. M.
