PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair William G. Newman Sidney Pugh William G. Lawson J. Sherman Scott Lloyd T. Johnston C1if'ford Sohwalm advised Council that the Toronto Humane Society will not aooept dogs to be killed arter 6 P. M. Mr. Schwalm to get prioes ror a killing box. The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. Proctor. Redrer~and Laughlin advised that they would try to rush the West Rouge Water Survey. 2. L. A. Bouoher advised that Munioipality must secure permission to tender for large road items rather than get approval after Tender. 3. Mr. Mowat. Provincial Librarian, submitted a brief' on f'ormation of Libraries; suggested that if a sohool area were f'ormed in South-West Piokering, it would be the proper size for a Publio Library; suggested a levy of $6,075.00 - 8l¢ per head, and tax rate or 1.3 Mills. Tabled until area f'ormed. 4. L. H. G. Kortri~ht asked that north half sideline between Lots 14 and 15 in Concession 9 be olosed. R. C. Baker and Mr. Frame approved. 5. ~llJ Ritohie reported on Whitevale Library and appreoiated grant inorease from 135.00 to $50.00. 6. A. Walker, President Civendev Limited, proposed installation of' water to 300 pro~osed houses in Concession 1, Lot 24. Price range of houses, $12,500.00 to '14,500.00 7. Police Commission, àdvising töàt theÿ hàve inst~ti~tê~ Police Chief' to oontact Toronto and Soarborough about paying for serving summons. 8. T. M. Moore - survey of Martin's Plan in Conoession 2, Lot 33, 20 lots. He recommended he be direoted to give approval to plan on best terms possible. Council direoted Clerk to so advise Mr. Moore. 9. County Clerk. 1955 Requisition, $100,996.20. ,0. Police Commission - 1954 Polioe Report. ,1. Toronto Industrial Commission, soliciting $500.00 grant. .GREED Planning Board meeting be held Maroh 4, 1955. Invitation to Mrs. D. Bishop ,nd Mr. W. G. Manning. .GREED Mr. Fairgrieves be not granted a Kennel Lioense ror 1955. ~VED by Mr. Newman, seoonded by Mr. Pugh, that Wells Ritchie be a member of the Ilanning Board. CARRIED ~ by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Soott, that Clerk be direoted to order all lupplies for the Munioipal Building on requisition f'rom various departments. CARRIED ~VED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Assessor's orf'ices be enlarged ,0 include ~he south-west corner room on second storey of' Municipal Building. ~ CARRIED - 2 - CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS 1. Have Police Chief' meet Council at 7 P. M. Tuesday, Maroh 1st at Council Chambers re Budget. 2. Inform Road Superintendent to fix large hole on Spruce Hill Road and level approach to Police Of'fice when possible. 3. Let Red Cross have use or Township Hall - f'ree - on Maroh 2, 1955. 4. Mr. Lawson will prepare advertisements for a part time "Industrial Promoter", to be inserted in Financial Post and Commercial News. 5. Direct Road Superintendent to instal a large blade on bulldozer, and have garbage dump pushed back weekly. 6. Get prioe on heavier insurance on Township truoks. 7. Ask Fred Hicks to vaoate his quarters by August 1, 1955. 8. Mr. Prouse and Clerk inspeot Hioks quarters and report suggestions to Council. 9. Get quotations on vault ror Assessor's books. .0. Have monthly report on outstanding taxes ror each Council meeting and amount paid dur'ng month. .1.
