BROUGHAM
An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONlLAY, the FOURTEENTH day of
FEBRU.\RY, 1955~ at EIGHT.. o'clock in the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:

MOVE~ by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Counoil aocept the
Tender ot Midland Securities Corporation Limited at 101.166 for
$ 68,000.00 - 4% - 1 to 20 year Debentures. CARRIED

The following PERSONS", Motion, were heard:
1. Mr. Blackley and John Ulke advised Council that they had 40 children
) at Fairport Beach attending olasses or in youth-centre where they are
taught leatheroratt, citizenship, tinsmithing in Mr. Luke's small shop.
As they want to extend their interests into boating, swimming, house-
keeping and stock car races, they have made arrangements with Mrs.
Huggins to operate in her barn, 70' by 30' and part of her 100-aore
farm. The barn will bo f'ixed up tor a gymnasium. As some thousands
of dollars were nee.od, they solioited a grant f'rom the Township.
ì 2. Mrs. HU2'2'in~ stated that she vas prepared to sign an agreement with
the group and stated she would like to open up a re-habi11tât1]01t"C'êtrtue,
as she is a trained nurse.
Council asked that Messrs. Blackley and Luke form a Committee and get
local members to assist them in their work, give Counoil a figure or
minimum need, get an agreement with Mrs. Huggins, and they would con-
sider a grant .

3. Cecil Morris and Mrs. C. Schtf@:.11l! asked that Polioe Chiif' or one of
the members of the foroe drop in for a f'ev minutes eaoh night the
Junior Polioe Assooiation meets. As this has not been done reoently,
they thought it would encourage the boys. They also asked that
notices of their meetings be posted on Polioe Bulletin Board, with
three days' notice, so constables could attend. Clerk write Polioe
Commission for direction to Chief'.
4. Clifford Schwal~ stated he would make only emergent oalls on Sunday,
asked that charges be laid against persons who did not secure dog
tags, asked permission to sell dog tags, and wanted ourrent list of
lioensed dog owners.
5. w. Bennet~, Liverpool Ratepayers' Association, complained about:
Broken tree 300 feet north of Highway 2 on Liverpool Road.
Assessor,pot advised that houses in Plan 492 and 521 numbered.
Protect¡~eep ditoh oorner Glendale and Glen Allan Streets.
Glendale Drive road signs north and south end not erected.
Houses on west side of Glendale Avenue had damp cellars.
and sump pumps working continually. Asked that some thought
be given to drainage.
Glendale Drive has not been ploughed or sanded this year.
Two members of Council did not agree, but Road Superintendent
instruoted to sand f'rom end to end.
That culvert at approach to Highway 2 be opened. Direoted to
contact Department of' Highways.
Asked for Council Agenda f'or Mrs. Bennett.
6. Dunoan Spang asked for the reason ror his dismissal. Counoil agreed
to have Mr. Goslin, Assessment Commissioner, appear before them on
February 15th, at 8:30 P. M.
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, that Dog Catcher be given 100
dog lioenses to sell, that he make a monthly acoounting of' licenses and
oash to Treasurer and that he be paid for eaoh lioense sold in the amount
of 25¢. CARRIED

CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
) 1. Write Police Commission to see ir Police Of ricers may attend for
short periods Junior Police meetings while on duty.
2. Advise T. M. Moore of Counoil meeting February 15th, at 8:30 P. M.,
and ask him to attend.
3. Advise Road Superintendent to:
(1) Sand all Glendale Drive.
(2) Cut broken tree on Liverpool Road.
(3) Road Inspection Thursday, February 24, at 12:30 P. M.
4. Order Stationery,Council.
5. Send Wrecking By-Laws to Morley Bain, Zephyr, Ontario, WID.
Jaokson, Uptergrove, Ontario.
