An Emergent Meeting or Council was held on WEDNESDAY, the TWELFTH day
or JANUARY, 1955, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening:

The rollowing CORRESPONDENCE was read:
St. John's Ambulance - request donation. No action.
Salvation ArmY - request donation.
TownshiD of Crowland - resolution asking Federal Government to amend
Unemployment Insuranoe Aot. No Action.
Fines, December, 1954 - $ 200.57
TownshiD of WhitbY - Will sign an agreement ror rire protection f'or
their residents on Claremont Telephone line @ $ 60.00 per call.
T. M. Moore - advise about payment of mileage, etc., to Reeve.
Levi HODkins agreed to meet the Reeve Saturday morning and view Rouge
River debris and possible boss job of removing same. ~
Mr. Venchiarutti and Mrs. BishoD, Planning Engineers, were present by
request or Counoil and the ethios or their acting as consultants to a
subdivider in Pickering Township while acting ror Township was discussed.
AGREED legal oosts for Irish Tax Deed be $ 41.50.
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Scott, that
WHEREAS the amount of' worl<: of the Townships or Pickering and Whitby
Planning Board has increased to the point where we believe that separate
Township Pianning Boards would handle the work more expeditiously;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Clerk be directed to make application
to the Minister of Planning and Development ror his approval ror a
Township of Pickering Planning Board to comprise the whole of the Township
of Pickering and consist or eight members. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Newman, that a grant of $ 25.00 be made
to the Salvation Army. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seoonded by Mr. Lawson, that office employees receive
$ 75.00 of monthly salary on l5th of each month. C.\RRIED
MOVED by Mr. Pugh, seconded by Mr. Newman, that a Municipal Water Committee
be set up and be composed of Messrs. Lawson, Scott and Newman. CARRIEp
AGREED that future subdivisions be rigidly controlled ad t~at the Planning
Board consider industry and location when passin3 on plans for new subdivisiors.

industrial area.

that same now be read a rirst time.
Mr. Newolan, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that By-Law Number 2060 to appoint

Township General Hospital, be now read a second time, and that Council go
into Committee of the Whole thereon.

Fire Area Committee for Fire Area No. 1 be now read a second time, and that

provisions of the Weed Control Act, in the Township of Pickering, during the
year 1955, and that same now be read a rirst time.

a Weed Inspector to carry out the provisions of the Weed Control Act, in
the Township or Pickering, during the year 1955, be now read a second time, and
