A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on WEDNESDAY,
the THIRTIETH day of DECEMBER, 1964, at EIGHT O'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
l.
PlanninlrBoard asks that building permits be not issued on
Frenchm:ts Bay Sandbar until the area is investigated by
the Conservation Authority and Toronto Waterfront Technical
Committee.
2.
Tenders for Fire Area 1 White tractor and tank trailer:

3. Municip~ì! Buildin& site:
(a) K. H. J. Clarke will give a release to permit Township to
hav$ an entrance from Brock Road to Township lot of 3 l/~
acres at Highway 2 and Brock Road.
(b) Clerk has secured information from a reliable source
that Goldenberg Report will "vitally affect ten abutting
municipalities to Metro Toronto". If this is true, it
would appear to include Pickering Township, Pickering
Village and Ajax.
Mr. Faulk~er, Planning Director, explained to Council that as
a planne~ he would say the municipal building should be
located .t the Brock Road site rather ,-than at the Liverpool
location. See Resolution No. 4;57/64.

the total grant to the Recreation Committee in the amount of $7,221. 3l,

RESOLUTION NUMBER ~55/6~
MOVED by Mr. Waring, seconded by Mr. Newman, that the offer of
Wilcox Auto Wreckers for the purchase of one used White Tractor and
tank trailer in "as is" condition, for the price of $376.75, be
accepted, and further that the aforementioned purchaser remove the
said vehicle immediately. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Waring. seconded by Mr. Wank. that this Council does
hereby endorse the recommendation of the Township of Pickering Planning
Board and hereby authorizes the issuance of a Letter of TOlerance,
that no action will be taken by the Township of Pickering for reasons
of variance from Zoning By-Law No. 2572, on property known as Lot lO,
Plan 417, to permit the erection of an additional greenhouse to
provide a l~ foot side yard; whereas a minimum setback of 20 feet is
required. which would be more in keeping with the spirit and intent
of the Official Plan and Zoning By-law. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Wank. seconded by Mr. Waring, that

WHEREAS it is likely that the Brock Road will in the future become
the main Cloverleaf of the Township of Pickering over the No. ~Ol
Highway;
AND WHEREAS the Finch Avenue extension will likely in the future
bound the proposed Brock Road site for the proposed Municipal
Bui lding ;
AND WHEREAS the previous owner of the land has agreed to waive the
:clause in his agreement so as to allow for an entrance off Brock Ro~d;
AND WHEREAS the No.2 Highway will be widened to allow for ~ lanes;
AND WHEREAS there does not seem to be an immediate problem or
future problem in the acquiring of additional lands for expansion
if necessary;
aE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the site located on the Northeast
corner of Brock Road and No. 2 Highway and known as Part Lot lB,
Concession 1, be selected as the site for the new Municipal Building
for the Township of Pickering and that the selected Architect be
instructed to proceed with his plans for that site; and an option be
pbtained for the parcel of land 170' X 350' immediately north at
a fixed $4,000.00. CARRIED

Mr. Wank. seconded by Mrs. McPherson. moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to amend the Official Plan, and
that same now be read a first time.
Mr.. Wank, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that By-Law Number 2951 to
amend the Official Plan. be now read a second time, and that Council
go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Wank. seconded by Mr. Waring. moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 295l be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed

By-Law of the Township of Pickering to amend By-Law No. 2603, a
by-law to license and regulate the operators of public garages
within the Township of Pickering, and its appendices, and that same
now be read a first time.
Mr. Spang. seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that By-Law No. 2950
to amend By-Law No. 2603 and its appendices be now read a second
time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.

Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2950 be adopted. and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve

the Reeve, Deputy Reeve and Councillors and to repeal By-Laws 252~
and 2525, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that By-Law Number 2952 to
set the remuneration for the Reeve, Deputy Reeve and Councillors and
to repeal By-Laws 252~ and 2525, be now read a second time, and
that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
