The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. Bay Ridges Kiwanis Club asks for municipal water for the Fairport
Park for ice rink. See Resolution No. 3Bl/6~.
2. School Area 2 requests monthly reports of building permits and
occupancies issued by Township.
AGREED Building Department supply as requested.
3. Mrs. M. Acheson asks for street numbering for East Woodlands.
AGREED Clerk number streets as requested.

Rouge Hills Lions Club ask permission to use the Township five
acres at Liverpool for their June. 1965. Carnival. See
Resolution No. 3eO/6~.
Resolution that Township advance $500.00, the expected
Frovincial grant on Township Community Hall. to install water
in building. Well dug 44' with 5' water at cost of $~e~.oo.

Our solicitors ask further direction on the installation of a
water main to Dunbarton High School.

(2) Agreement does not state High School share.

The following PERSONS. on MOTION, were heard:
1. Mr. D. PIitz, Treasurer, introduced Mr. Ronald Mitchell, new
Township Accountant.
2. MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mrs. McPherson. that Mr. J. G.
Fultz be heard. CARRIED
Mr. Fultz explained that all mail for Pickering Beach, Bay
Ridges. Fairport, Fairport Beach. and Dunbarton Shores, would
be through the Ajax Post Office after November 16. 1964; that
the name 'Ajax' need not appear on mail, but it would be
delayed if not on.
As all members of Council objected to this address for Pickering
Township residents. Mr. Fultz stated he would not object to a
resolution of Council asking for their own postal address for
this area.
3. MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that Mr. L. G.
Squires be heard. CARRIED
Mr. Squires asked for two taxi licenses.
4. AGREED Mr. Austin be heard.
Mr. Austin stated he had six taxi licenses and one Driving School
license and submitted his financial statement on such business
for 1963. which showed that he had lost $1500.00 during the year,
so asked that no more licenses be issued.
Council AGREED to discuss on November 3.
5. MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Wank. that Mr. Sidney
Duncombe be heard. CARRIED
Mr. Duncombe stated he had acted for a client who had purchased the
Benham 50 acres in Concession 3, Lot 12; that th~re was an agree-
ment dated July 27. 1955, which permitted Mr. Benham to erect a
summer cottate to be used by his family only, and if the property
is sold. the building would be removed. Mr. Duncombe asked that his
client be permitted to use the cottage under the same conditions
as Mr. Benham.
AGREED Planning Director and By-Law Enforcement Officer submit
a report.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 380/6~
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Wank. that the Rouge Hills-
Pickering Lions Club be permitted to use the Township five acres
at Liverpool for a Carnival in June, 1965. providing the Township
does not use the land for another purpose and that the Club contact
the Clerk in this regard in May. 1965. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 381/64
MOVED by Mr. Wank. seconded by Mr. Waring, that the Bay Ridges
Kiwanis Club be permitted to install a water service for the purpose
of flooding a Public Skating Rink in the Frenchman's Bay Ratepayers'
Park and that they be permitted to use this water service for one year
without metering the water used. provided that the payment of $20.00
is made to the Treasurer as a lump sum payment for the water used in
the period from the date the connection is given to the 3lst of December,
1965.
IT IS UNDERSTOOD that prior to that date the Kiwanis Club must either
arrange for the installation of a meter or re-negotiate an extension
of the flat rate payment basis to avoid the water being turned off.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 382/6~
MOVED by Mr. Newman. seconded by Mr. Waring, that the Township of
Pickering oppose the application of the Bell Telephone Company for an
increase in rates at the present time as we are not receiving any
additional service at this time, and that a copy of this resolution
be forwarded to the Department of Transport, and a copy to the
Bell Telephone Company of Canada. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 383/64
MOVED by Mr. Campbell. seconded by Mr. Waring, that the cost and
upkeep of walkways between Loretta Street and Reytan Blvd.. and
between Krosno Blvd. and Balaton Avenue, be charged to the Roads
budget. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 38~/64
MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Spang, that this Council
advance to the Brougham Community Hall Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00),
being the expected Provincial grant on the installation of water with
toilets. CARRIED
MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Wank, that the report of
the Standing Committee on ROADS. recommending payment of accounts
in the amount of $32.4~5.l3, be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Waring. seconded by Mr. Campbell, that the report of
the Standing Committee on PARKS AND RECREATION, recommending payment
of accounts in the amount of $35~.78, be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the report of the
Standing Committee on FINANCE. recommending payment of accounts in
the amount of $396,690.16. be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Waring. seconded by Mr. Campbell, that the report of
the Standing Committee on POLICE, recommending payment of accounts
in the amount of $l5,57l.8l. be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Waring, that the report of the
Standing Committee on PUBLIC UTILITIES recommending payment of
accounts in the amount of $l,806.l7. be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Waring, that the report of the
Standing Committee on ENGINEERING, recqmmending payment of accounts
in the amount of $~.679.84. be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Waring, seconded by Mr. Newman, that the report of the
Standing Committee on FIRE recommending payment of accounts in the
amount of $2.746.79, b~opted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that the report of
the Standing Committee on BY-LAW ENFORCEMENT recommending payment of
accounts in the amount of $2.384.59, be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Campbell, that the report of the
Standing Committee on PROPERTY. recommending payment of accounts in
the amount of $513.7l, be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Wank, that the report of the
Standing Committee on SANITATION, recommending payment of accounts
in the amount of $2,916.31, be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that the report of the
Standing Committee on SEWAGE, recommending payment of accounts in
the amount of $4,114.47, be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Waring, that the report of
the Standing Committee on WELFARE recommending payment of accounts
in the amount of $6,360.37, be adopted. CARRIED

BY-LAW NUMBER 292~ (Third Reading)
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Waring,. moves that the report of ~he
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2924, to authorize the signing
of the Inside Union Agreement, be adopted, and that the said by-law
be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign
the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2930
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to engage an accountant (Ronald
Mitchell), and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that By-Law Number 2930 to
engage an accountant, be now read a second time, and that Council go
into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2930 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

2. Engineer report on Township need for Lot 80, P.MT37.
3. Clerk advise solicitors to get $11.000.00 from J & M Construction.

5. There is no legislation whereby a municipality must assume
welfare costs after one year residence.
6. Building Department supply School Area 2 with monthly report of
residential permits and occupancies issued.
MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Campbell, that this Council do now
adjourn to meet again on MONDAY the SEVENTH day of DECEMBER,
at EIGHT o'clock p. m.
