A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on MONDAY, the
EIGHTE&NTH day of NOVEMBER, 1963, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. Steven~, Hassard and Elliott. SOlicitors, submit resolutions and
by-laws for extension of water and sewer mains on Chester Hill
Road.
2. Slevens. Hassard and Elliott, SOlicitors, submit copy of
settlement agreed to by Mr. A. Dand, of certain claimed damages
in West Rouge. See Resolution of Acceptance No. 328/63.
3. Secretary, School Area 2, advises that Robert H. Brown has
res~gned as Trustee, Area 2 Board, effective Nov. II, 1963.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 321/63
MOVED by Mrs. McPherson. seconded by Mr. Deakin. that all roads in the
Township over which the public is entitled to pass should be assumed
as Township Roads and that no public monies be spent on any road which
has not been assumed, as recommended by the Road Committee on
November II, 1963. CARRIED

RESOLUTION NUMBER 322/63
MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that all persons
living on or owning properties abutting roads in the Township which,
have hitherto not been assumed. should be notified of the Township'~
intention to assume those roads over which the public have a right-Qf-
passage and be allowed a period of two weeks to give notice of their
intention, if any, to object to assumption of such roads. CARRIED

RESOLUTION BUMBER 323/63
MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Wank, that the Township Road
Department do not further contracting with respect to private
property after December IS, 1963, and that in the meantime proper
charges be made in line with Department of Highways requirements, as
recommended by the Road Committee. CARRIED

local improvement under the provisions of Section 8 or the Local
Improvement Act, R.S.O. 1960 C. 223 as amended by Statutes of
Qntario, 1961-1962 C. 75 Sec. 1 and 1962-1963 C 75 Sec. 2;

RESOLUTION NUMBER 326/63
MOVED BY Mr, Deakin, seconded by Mr. Spang, that due to extensive
construction at the corner or No. 2 Highway and Glendale Drive it
is dangerous to have the Group Mail Boxes remain at this corner;
therefore this Council requests the approval or the Postal Authorities
to remove the boxes rrom the aroresaid corner and place them on
Township road allowance at the corner or Glenanna and Glendale Drive.

RESOLUTION NUMBER ~27/63
MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that the Township
request the Grey Coach Lines to travel the No. 2 Highway to C. N. R.
By-Pass Road and thence westerlY to Fairport Road and then south to
the old No. 2 Highway, so that the people using the Grey Coach Lines
will not have extra walking distance when the new Number 2 is com-
pleted and they will not have mud to walk through while the C. N. R.
is unde.r construction. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that this Council
approve the settlement agreement with Rouge Hills Golf Club set out
in ~he letter of Stevens, Hassard and Elliott dated Nov. 15, 1963.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2829
Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to provide for places for
receiving the votes of the electorate and to name Deputy Returning
Officers who will act for the 1963 municipal elections. and that
same now be read a first time.
Mr. Greening, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that:By-Law No.
2829 to provide for places for receiving the votes of the electorate
and to name deputy returning officers who will act for the 1963
municipal elections, be now read a second time, and that Council
go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2829 be adopted. and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same~ and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED
