Mr. 'Poul Poulsson advised Council that Mr. Bai1eYt Assistant
BU11d1ng Inspector, had resigned and would not be replaced,
and that Mr. S. Purdy, Service Inspector, had completed his work
and would be leaving shortly, so asked that R. Hutchinson be
employed as a draughtsman at a salary of $6000.00 per year.

The following PERSONSt on MOTION, were heard:
1. MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Greening, that
Mr. H. B. L. Jones be heard. CARRIED
Mr. H. B. L. Jones, Solicitor for E. Traugolt, asked if his
cI1ent could get a permit to build a home on 41 acres in the
north-east part of Lot 33, Concession 7, if it has only 217 feet
frontage, after a ten acre parcel is sold off with 344 feet.
If the ten acre parcel so sold with 500 feet frontage, then
frontage would be less than 200 feet.
2. MOVED by Mr. Wank. seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Mrs. Yartman
be heard. CARRTED
Mrs~ Yartman stated her 1960 assessment on 49 acres of land
~n ConceSS10n 3, Lots 17-18, was $3150.00; 1961 assessment,
$9830.00, and 1962 assessment $3525.00, and as she did not
appeal 1961 assessment, the 1962 tax was $300.00 over 1961
and 1963 taxes, so she asked for a rebate.
Reeve Scott stated no action could be taken by Council and
sugges~ed she see her lawyer.
3. MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Greening. that Mr. R. G. Roy
be heard. CARRIED
Mr. R. G. Roy wished to discuss Dr. LaBrie's public apology, but
as the doctor was not present, he did not proceed with this
subject. However, he did discuss the Township Welfare Depart-
ment at length..
4. ~OVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Greening, that Mr. Morton
bø. heard. CARRIED
Mr. C. Morton again discussed Welfare matters.

5. MOVED by Mr, Greening, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Mr. A. W.
Cane be heard. CARRIED
Mr. A. W, Cane discussed two welfare cases which had been
brought to the attention of Council, namely, Morton and Vivian.
R~eve Scott gave the ratepayers present an opportunity to speak
rurther on these welfare matters, stating it would be their
last opportunity, for no more would be heard on this subject at
future Council meetings.

6. ' MO'VED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Greening, that Mr. S.
Purdy be heard. CARRIED
Mr. SI Purdy stated that drainage from Department of Highway
and íownsh1p lands and surrounding area ran onto his property
in Concession 1, Lot 17, until now there is a three foot pond
on his lawn. and he held the Township responsible. He asked
that the Township accept the opi~ion of the ~anitary In~pector,
Engineer, By-Law Enforcement Off1cer and Eng1neer of 011ver Lloyd,
and that the Township rectify according to that opinion.

endorse the Brief of the City of Hamilton which was presented to the

a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing
of $151,694.72 upon debentures for the installation of a waterworks
extension, and that same now be read a first time.
