ÁdJustment. They W1 1 send out a representative to meet and
advise new Committee and Staff.
Brooklin Spring Fair Association asks for a grant ($25.00).
Markham Fair Board asks for a grant ($50.00).
Count~ öf Ontario 1963 requisitiont $304,092.19, compared to
~2o/, 2~.70 1n 1~o2, and a rate of 10.8 in 1963, compared to
10.1 in 1962.
Because of $40,000.00 larger Provincial grants, the ~i'~~
School has reduced its rate for 1963 from 18.37 to 1. ·

Ontario Municipal Board - re Zoning Area By-Laws 2572 and

appear to have statutory authority to enforce the provisions
of either of the above mentioned by-laws until the Board has
given its approval."
Heron Appeal to Ontario Municipal Board re appeal because
Township gave no deduction in fire assessment because of
location in 1962 - dismissed because fee not paid.
Department of Lands' and Forests expects flooding in spring
break-up. Adv1ses precaut1on, and where sand-bags can be
obtained.

The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
1. MOVED by Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Mr.
R. E. Sims, County Engineer, be heard. CARRIED
Mr. R. E. Sims introduced Mr. Baker, who has been appointed
County satety Director, who would advise on safety of buildings
being erected or demolished, except farm buildings, but would
include wells and sewers, except for actual trenching.
2. MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Spang, that Mrs.
I. McLean be heard. CARRIED
Mrs. I. McLean spoke on behalf of the County of Ontario
Med~cal ~erative Services who, she claimed, gave more
coverage than P. S. I. for less money.
3. MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Spang, that Mr. J. W.
W1111ams, of Bay Ridges Ratepayers' Association, be heard.
CARRIED
Mr. J. W. Williams asked that dogs be better controlled over
week ends when Dog Catcher is not on duty, He recommended
bonuses for dogs picked up on Saturdays and Sundays.
(2) He asked that their association be permitted to erect
a shelter on Liverpool Road at Base Line-for protection of
persons using buses, and that Council assume the cost of
maintaining.

MOVLD by Mrs. ACPherson, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that for the sum
of One Dollar ($1.00) the Township of Pickering agrees to sell
to the Department of Highways that portion of Pine Ridge Road
which lies between Highway 2 and the proposed C. N. Railway,
containing approximately 1220 square feet, and that the Reeve
and Clerk be authorized to sign all necessary papers in this
connection. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 63/63
MOVLD by Mr. Green1ng, seconded by Mr. Spang, that this Council
make application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of
consent for John Edward Regan to convey to Mabel W. Glass, who
now owns Lot 211, Plan 299, with existing cottage, the whole
of Lot 296, the east halves from front to rear of Lots Nos.
212 and 295, and the west halves, from front to rear, of
Lots 210 and 297, all according to Registered Plan No. 299,
to add to her present holdings, it being provided in deed
that no cottage or other dwelling will be erected on the lands
being conveyed; as recommended by the Township of Pickering
Planning Board March 1st, 1963. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 64/63
MOVLD by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Spang, that this Council make
app11cation to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of
consent for Edgar Ward to convey to Dean W. Evans a parcel
102 feet by 147 1/2 feet, part of Lot 31, Registered Plan 12,
Village of Claremont, as recommended by the Pickering Township
Planning Board March 1, 1963. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 65/63
MOVLD by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that this Council
endorse the resolution of the Village of Sutton, which requests
that the Municipal Act be amended to include Municipal non-residents
in the total population for Provincial grant purposes. WITHDRAWN

AOVLD by ~r. WanK, seconded by Mrs. McF erson, that the Clerk
obtain from the Business Administrator, Mr. Tyas, of School
Area No.2, a break-down of the revised grants for year 1963

vehicles unless in emergency after available contractors have

BY-LAW NUMBER 2767 (Third Reading)
The Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2767 to regulate gravel
pits in the Township of Pickering arises and reports the By-Law as
read.
Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on Ev-Law No. 2767 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2778
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to name a Recreation Committee
for the Pickering Beach area (Committee: Murray Russell, George Kay
Gordon Bentley, Mrs. A. Corbet, Mrs. N. Livingston. From Council,
Mrs. J. McPherson and Mr. John Greening) and that same now be read a
first time.

Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that By-Law Number 2778
to name a Recreation Committee for the Pickering Beach area, be
be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the
Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2778 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed

BY-LAW NUMBER 2779
Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to levy such rates against all
the assessed properties in the Township of Pickering as will be
required to operate the various PUblic, Separate and High School
Boards, and to pay the debentures and interest falling due for
schools in the year 1963, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Greening, moves that By-Law Number
2779 to levy such rates against all the assessed properties in the
Township of Pickering as will be required to operate the various
PUblic, Separate and High School Boards, and to pay the debentures and
interest falling due for schools in the year 1963, be now read a
second time. and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

Reeve Scott reported that the Town of Ajax would nominate Elwood
~m1tn to represent the East District on Metro Planning Board.

1. "Mr. Ashton to report to Council on grants for recreation and
parks.
2. Clerk check lawyers on reports on H. E. P. C. and $500.00
Planning Board fee.
3. Clerk advertise again for Planning Director.
4. Welfare Officer list name of relief recipient after store
accounts.
AGREED a general meeting be called of all persons or organizations
1nterested in a Township Arena and Recreation Centre on Wednesday,
March 20th, if hall available.
Note: Hall not available on March 20, Reeve suggests March 28.
MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Greening, that this Council do
now adjourn to meet again on MONDAY the 1st day of APRIL, 1963,
