A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on MONDAY, the
FOURTH day of FEBRUARY. 1963, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1.. Count~ öf On'tario questionnaire asking Council's recommendations
as to what steps County could take to encourage tourists and in-
dustry to the County. Industrial Committee and Clerk complete.
2. De~artment of Highways asks Township to sell them south 35
feet of Valleyv1ew Dr1ve (an unopened road following Petticoat
Creek immediately north of Highways No.2) for road widening,
for $1.00. See Resolution No. 33/63

3. The Assessment Act provides that certain lands shall be partially
exempt from certa1n rates if they do not receive the same benefit
from a service as other properties. See By-Law re fire rating.
4. Resolution of Village of Sutton means the counting of cottage
owners who are now e11gible to be candidates for Council to
receive the per capita Provincial Grant.
5. Department of Lands and Forests asks if this Council wishes to
comment on an open season for deer in 1963. See Resolution
No. 35/63
6. Mr. S. Kotuszevski (Kay) who later will apply for a wrecking
yard. at C. P. R. and Fa1rport Road, asks permission to durnp
(scrap and old battery boxes, etc.) as fill, on his lot.
Mr. Ashton reported unfavourably. See Resolution No. 42/63.
7. Resolution of Cöunt¥ of Wentworth for endorsement. That the
Government of Ontar10 pass leg1s1ation to prohibit the use and
sale of mineral based detergents in Ontario - to better
control pollution. See Resolution No. 34/63
'Our Enlineer lists seven complaints as to Consolidated Building
Corport1on services installed which are not to his satisfaction.
Our E~ineer lists six complaints as to roads taken over in
Bay RIãges by By-Law No. 2643.
En~ineer requests one additional man to operate water and
sewer plants - four instead of three. See Resolution No. 36/63.
Hbdro on Liverpool Road at Highway 401. Department will pay
b ~ cost of 1nstallat10n on more expensive lights.

MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that this Council
agrees to sell to the Department of Highways the southerly
approximate 35 feet of unopened road allowance called Valley-view
Drive in Plan 346 for the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) for highway
widening, and that the Reeve and Clerk be authorized to sign all
necessary papers in this regard. CARRIED

Township of Pickering endorse the resolution of the County of vJentworth
which would ask the government of the Province of Ontario to pass
legislation which would prohibit the use and sale of mineral based
detergents in Ontario which pollutes our lakes and streams. CARRIED

MOVED DY Mr.-Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Spang. that the Clerk be in-
structed to advise the Department of Lands and Forests that this Council
is opposed to an open season for deer hunting in the Township of
Pickering in the year 1963. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. wank, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the Engineering Depart-
ment be permitted to add an additional man to operate the water and
sewer plants and that his salary be $4000.00 per year with yearly
increases of $125.00 to a maximum of $4.500.00. CARRIED

additional cost for this relocation is $3,500.00 and the funds are
available from the savings realized by the redesigned Lakecrest Avenue
