Mèt~Dol~~an Toronto and R.~ion Conservation Author~ty in a letter to
Reeve Scott stated the greatest rainfall recorded on August 9th near
Stout'fville was 2.5 inches and as a rainfall of 4.10 inches would
only result in minor flooding, they consider they were under no oblíg-
ation to give warnings. - The flood was caused by removing planks from
the Whitevale Dam; the Authority has no responsibility over such aotions.

Mr. Gouinlock of Bell, Gouinlock Cempany stated he thought his firm
could sell One Million Dollars Township debentures in New York at
99 for a 5~ issue less American funds premiUM; that they would like
a 30 day option; that the Township is a very good risk, much better
than many in the Metropelitan Area; and th~t they do not wish to be
the Township's sole fiscal agents.
Mr, Sch~efer asked Council for permission to op~rate â planing mill
in Skidmore factory east of Fire Ball No. 1. ~e Reeve stated no
permit was necessary.
Mr. Borland of Riverside stated that a Mr. Stitwell of the Department
of lends and Forests assured him that gravel companies to north would
not be permitted to use all the creek water.
Mrs. G. Crichton again asked that some recognition be given to Dan
Huntington for notifying Sun Valley Park owner re flood waters coming.
Mr. Goslin, Assessment Commissioner, discussed his work with Council,
stating that the assessing was farther advanced now than at same time
last year; there would be some overtime required; there are two appeals
now before the Ontario Municipal Board; and certain methods of assessing.

Mr. WIn. F air~rieves spoke to Councit re his application for a Kennel
license.

J. A. Bentley asked permission to move a house from Pickering Village
onto his lot in Concession 2, ,Lot 18. Reeve Scott stated no "permission
was necessary except a moving permit from Mr. Prouse.

MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Ashton, that all dam owners or
operators be advised that children are swimming downstream and that caution y
be advised in opening dams and that a warning system be set up whereby
downstream park operators are warned accordingly. CÁRRTED

MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang, that this Council advertise in
Civic Administration, Municipal World, Globe and Mail, Financial Post,
for a Chartered Accountant for the position of Treasurer and Office Manager;
preferably with Municipal experience. CARRIED

The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Miss Swan, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2412 be adopted, and that the said
By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign
the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
