(Resolution No. 100) (2) Could they use part of Park Board lands at rear of Community lIal1~ Clerk contact Department. 2. f&ward Hannah, of llunbarton, objected being charged 77¢ penalty on taxes paid teN~ days late, being charged $35.00 for a culvert, and being charged by By-Law ßnforcement Officer for untidy premises. Council took no action. 3. Mr. Fred Hunt, Chairman School Area NO.2, gave a breakdown on proposed cost of 10 roon adflition to Range West School. He asked Council's approval for '250,000.00 4. Hr. William Faire:rieves asked if H'est nouge ~"aterworks was operating at a profit to which the Reeve replied in affirmative, and if Council would permit voting two weeks after nomiration, and the Reeve stated that this could be taken up at a later date. ¡, 5. Hr. Butler, of Proctor and Redfern, explaineil his proposal for a Sewage Plant in West Rouge; after ~iving prices for three other locations for a sewage plart, he reco~rnended a plant north of Chesterton Shores 1000 feet from the Lake as being the best location. The Plant and mains would cost $480,000.00, less $100,000.00 donations from subdividers. Total arrual paJ'ment, $39,280.00, levied as follows: þ 30,000 feet frontage @ 40¢ 400 Service Connection Charges @ Sewage Service Rate, 640 @ 30¢ Levy on 3,000,000. Assessm't Area, 1.76 Mills $ 12,000.00 $7.00 2,800.00 19,200.00 5.280.00 $39,280.00 This would mear yearly cost to average ratepayer, $68.00. Ratepayers in Area not serviced would pay about $7.00 per year. I). HR. Donald HcIntosh asked that ~roposed Sewage Plant be erected as soon as possible, that he would pay '450.00 per lot, and perhaps $500.00, for 200 lots. .... . Messrs. Ravey and Nicholson, taxi owners, objected to Council granting Albert Johnson 8 taxi licenses for Pickering Township. (See nesolution 'htl'1ber 104). 8. Reid Scott asked Council to consider reducing their $30,000.00 Performance Bond on M 5 as most of services are installed. Mr. Jefferson to report. 9. ~. Cane asked that Trailer regulations and regulations re well toPS(zuv>\ (safety) be amended. . '" 10. T. O. Jefferson agreed that the plans submitted for a sewer plant in West Rouge was sound and the best of the proposed plans. RESOLUTION NUMBER 100 ~OVED by ~fr. James; seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that the Trustees of the Police Village of Claremort. use their surplus funds to build a new Fire Hall. CARRIED RES0!illI!ON NUMBER 101 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Spang, that ~~. Cane be authorized to attend the ~ve1fare Convention in Sault Ste. Marie on June 15th, 16th, 17th, and that his expenses be paid by the Township. CARRIED ~ RESOLUTION NUMBER 102 MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that the Road take advantage of the offer of reduced price of concrete pipe sufficient quantity to storm sewer the west side of Pickering install same. Superintendent and secure Beach Road and CARRIED . RESOLUTION NUMBER 103 MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Hrs. McPherson, that the Assessment Commissioner be given authority to secure a legal appraiser to witness on his behalf before t'he Court of Appeal at the Hearing of A. M. RealiJ'" Investments' appeal. CARRIED RESOLUTION NU}ffiER ~04 MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Ashton, that the application of Albert S. Johnson for a fleet license (8 taxis) in Pickering Township, be denied. CARRIED v - 3 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 105 MOVED by Mr. Ashton, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, to the School Board of Area No.2 for a further rooms required. that we ~efer the estimate back reduction, ~ncluding number of CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 106 MO~D by Miss Swan, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the request of the Salvation Army to conduct the Campaign in the Township of Pickering during May 11 to May 23 in conjunction with the National Financial Campaign under the title of' "The Salvation Army Red Shield Campaign", be approved by this Council. CARRIED 0/ RESOLUTION NUMBER 107 MõVÉD by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Ashton, THAT WKEREAS the 1957 Assessment Appeals of A. M. Realty Investments Limited, Mr. Lorne PUckrin, and Miller Paving were not heard by the County Judge as a result of an uf1fortunate error in application to the proper official, and in accordance with the advice of H. E. Manning, we instruct our Assessment Commissioner to work out a compromise agreement with the above mentioned rate- payers, basing the assessment for the years 1957, 1958 and 1959 on the results of the 19B8 appeal. This compromise agreement to be submitted to the Ontario Municipal Board for their approval. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 108 MOVED by Miss Swan, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, that the Reeve be authorized to proclaim that the official time of the Township of Pickering be Daylight Saving time from 2 A. M. Sunday, April 26th to 2 A. M. Sunday, October 25th, 1959. CARRIED '" MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by ~w. BY-LåW NUMBER 2390 Mrs. MC~1erson, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to regulate and prohibit the sale and setting off of fireworks, ani that sa!'1e row be read a first time. Mrs. McPherson, seconded by ~fiss Swan, moves that By-Law Number 2390 to regulate and proh.ibit the sale and setting off of fireworks, be now read a second time, Al'd that Council go into Committee of the \fuole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. James, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2390 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
