A Meeting of the Township of Pickering ROAD COMMITTEE was held on TUESDAY,
the TENTH day of FEBRUARY, 1959, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

Mr. AshtQn asked that persons cutting brush or roads be not required to
cut brush in vicinity of their homes, so that their neighbours will
corsider them on Township Welfare.
AGREED that it would he t.oo difficult for Road Department to re-arrange
brush cutters operatiors to suit individual.
Mr. Hawthorne stated ratepayers of Fairport Beach and Dunbarton Shores
hail requested a sidewalk or cinder path or Hillview for the protection
of children.
AGREED that such a proiect should be a charge against Ward road funds.
Mr. Ashton gave a list of work he wished done in Ward 3 -
(1) Pave Audley Road
(2) Sidewalk or Harwood Drive; in this he b~lieved the Town of
Ajax would maintain in winter.
(3) Pickering Beach drainage
(4) Pave Valley Farm Road
(5) Pave Station Road
(6) Bring Ral1ge Line in Pickering Beach to standard road
(7) Re-build Concession 2
(8) Study Elizabeth Street to Riverside
Mr. Jeffersor reporteil he had inspected sideline between Lots 12 and 13,
Concession 1, north half. It has been officially closed by Township.
The Village lire is on west side of road surve~T. The developer in
Pickering Village would like to purchase the whole 66 feet north'half,
build an exit to his subdivision or rorth part and use south part as the
rear for ten lots.
AGREED Mr. Jefferson contact Mr. Picov and see if he wished to purchase
a part or all of such road and get a letter to place on file.
It was AGREED that Mr. Jefferson observe spring floods as it relates to
Concession 2 and report to Council what work should be done on Concession
2 opposite Lots 19 ard 20.
Mr. Jack Chapman asked that:
(1) Each Councillor submit a list of road work he wished done. in
his ward this year, talk it over with him, then he would bring
in a report.
(2) He would recommend the purchase of the following machinery in
'1959:
Truck and self feeder sand box
New Maintainer
2 Snow Plow wings for trucks
Tools

and recommerded that oldest maintainer be advertised for sale.
(3) That the mer's pay be adjusted to 50 hour week with same take
home pay.
(4) That charge for 15" culverts be increased from $35.00 to $55.00.
(5) That charge for 18" culverts be increased from $45.00 to $65.00.

(6) That By-Law be prepared for an extension of the half load for
trucks season.
(7) That he be permitted to get costs of land to straighten approaches
to new County hridge to be built on Church Street just north of
Concession 3.
(8) That Standard Paving Company be permitted to use Valley Farm Road
and haul full loads in half load season providing any ilamage done
by them he repaired by them.
(9) That the Dri.nkwater easemerts or Fairport Road north be abandoned.
Hold up to see what effect spring floods will have on it this year.
Clerk contact Town of Ajax re winter maintenance of a proposed Harwood Avenue
si.dewalk.
AGREED Finance Committee meet Wednesday, February 18th at 8 P. M.
