A meeting of Pickering Township
Council was held on THURSDAY the
TWENTY-NINTH day of DECEMBER,
1966, at ELEVEN-FIFTEEN a. m.

Deputy Reeve J. L. McPherson
Councillors: N. Waller
D. Beer
D. J. PIitz, Clerk
It was found necessary that an emergency meeting of Council
be called to resolve a problem encountered by the Contractor
H a rtjes & Sons building the South East Fire Hall in Pickering
Beach.
Due to the poor soil conditions it was found necessary to
excavate several feet further down to ensure firm soil
for the footings of the Fire Hall resulting in additional
costs with respect to wider footings and a greater amount
of back filling which is more than what the original
specifications called for. After considerable discussion
with Mr. F. Prouse, Building Inspector and Fire Chief
D. Lynde the Council passed the following motion:
Resolution 556
MOVED by Deputy Reeve J. L. McPherson, seconded by
Councillor D. Beer
that the Building Inspector be authorized to over see
the installation of 8 inch by 24 inch footings with
two 5/8 inch reinforcing rods added for strength at
~ an additional cost of $165.00 as agreed by the contractor.
And that the additional fill to be estimated by the
Building Inspector for the construction of the Pickering
Beach Fire Hall..

Resolution 557
MOVED by Deputy Reeve J. L. McPher8OD. seconded by
Councillor D. Beer, that the owner of the refri3erator
in the South West Pire Hall be offered $50.00 for
same.
CARRIED.
MOVED by Deputy Reeve J. L. McPherson, seconded by Councillor
N. Waller, the Council meeting do adjourn 11:30 a.m. and
reconvene into Committee of the Whole Council.
