A Meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on TUESDAY. the
ELEVENT~ day of JANUARY, 1966, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. Mrs, Brenda Pemberton Pigott recommends that election post~rs
be removed.
Reeve Laycox requested that all candidates in the last election
remove their posters at once. Councillors Chatten and Williams
reported that they had removed their signs.
2. Miles Cook advises he has been appointed by the County of
Ontario to the ?ickering District High School Board, and
expresses thanks to Council for his term on the Board.
3. P. Poulss on, Township Engineer, reports on Resolution No. 446/65
re inspection 0·:= municipal building.
AGREED that copies of letter be made and distributed to
Public Utility Committee members, and that future letters
of this nature be addressed to each member of Council.

5. The Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority
asks if Mr. Laycox and Mr. Westney will remain as members,
and wish to know before Friday, February 4, 1966. See By-Law
No. 3093.
6. W. K. McLean and A. S. Strachan, of the Court of Revision
advise that requests are made for reduction in assessment
because of detrimental factors in their neighbourhood. They
recommend that the condition existing in West Rouge receive
By-Law Enforcement Officer h~s this matter in hand.

8. De artment of Economics & Develo ment advise date of meeting
to iscuss ormation of the Central Ontario Regional Development
Association to be held at the Legion Hall, Uxbridge. Ontario,
Thursday, January 27, 1966, at 8:00 p. m.
. 9. Ontario Good Roads Association announce seminar for councillors
(available only to first 350 who register) and advise membership
fee of $25.00 is required before registration. No Action
The following DISCUSSIONS took place:
1. Reeve Laycox placed before Council the matter pertaining to the
purchasing by the Township of Pickering the Risk property, part
of the south half of Lot 24,;Concession 1, 23 5/8 acres for the
sum total of $56~750.00. Th~ land is to provide the Township

with a Centennial Park site and additional property for an
industrial park.
After a great deal of discussion, Resolution No. 12/66 was
carried.

2. Council was asked for comment with the suggested expenditure
by the High School Board of some $500,000 for the erection of
an auditorium.
It was Council's feeliDgthat before such d project gets under
way we must first provide the necessary rooms for our school
children. Although a project of this nature is perhaps
desirable) it is, perhaps, a few years premature. We must have
more industrial assessment to help carry such an expenditure.
3. Architects Craig, Zeidler and Strong have requested that
members of Council meet with them at the site of the new
municipal building at least once monthly to review progress.
Council suggested that Mr. Williams and Mr. Campbell meet with
a representative of the firm of architects, Mr. Lorne Johnston,
at 3:00 p. m. the second Wednesday of each month.

Hon. Matthew Dymond, and Hon.' Wm. G. Davies, requesting support.
6. Ontario Hydro requests permission to test transformers on test
platform constructed opposite the Water Plant. See Resolution
No.. 8.

MOVED by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Campbell, that the Ontario
Hydro be authorized to carryon testing on the platform now constructed,
of Transformers prior to installation in the Nuclear Plant, providing
no annoyance will be created to surrounding property owners. CARRIED

THAT WHEREAS the Township of Pickering has employed Bell Gouinlock
and Company Limited as fiscal agents for the years 1963-1964-1965;

AND WHEREAS in prior years they -were th~ successful tenderers on ~
per cent of our debentures issued;
AND WHEREAS Bell Gouinlock and Company Limited are fully familiar
with the problems and needs of the Township of Pickering;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that this Council appoint Bell Gouinlock and
Company Limited as fiscal agents for the Township of Pickering for
the years 1966 and 1967;
AND THAT they act as agents under the same financial agreement as in
previous years. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 12/66
MOVED by Mr. Campbell. seconded by Mr. Williams. that this Council
proceed with the purchase of part of Lot 24, south half of Concession
l. (Risk Property) 23.524 acres, for an industrial and park project,
that the price of $56,750 be offered for this property,

to establish a Hydro Public Utilities Commission for the south part
