A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on MONDAY, the
EIGHTEENTH day of JANUARY, 1965, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered.
1. Department of Highways of Ontario announce that they will provide
six two-week courses for municipal employees in March and April,
expenses of which will be subsidized by them - pass on to Road
Department.
2. Mr. A. Dand asks for "No Parking" signs on East Avenue and Ridgewood
Drive to discourage persons using his Golf Course for sleigh riding
and skiing. Clerk get Engineer's report.
3. W. N. Wildman. O.L.S., claims his estimate for putting Area A and
B in Fairport under Land Titles was under-estimated by $1.300.00,
of which Province would pay $325.00 grant. This would require
Township to pay $2,337,00 and owners $2,337.00. or $28.00 for each
owner, Clerk enquire why this extra cost as it equals $75.00 per
lot which is more than individual lot surveying.
4. The Townshif Engineer recommenda acceptance of Tripp Coftstruet1on
Company Lim~ted tender for installation of sewers and water mains
in Fairport Beach at $182.067.79, See ResOlutipn No. 18/65.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 17/65
MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Waring, that this Council does
hereby endorse the recommendation of the Township of Pickering Planning
Board on November 17. 1964, and directs that a special amending by-law
be prepared to amend By-law 2790 in accordance with section 6.1.2; to
permit the operation of a chinchilla ranch on part of Lots 29 and 30,
Concession 7. provided that the foundation and basement of the barn
be completed prior to any occupancy of the residence; and submission
of a site plan for approval showing the proposed location md size of
all buildings to be constructed. Such approval to be applicable under
this resolution, until incorporated in a general amending by-law.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 18/65
MOVED by Mr. Wanke seconded by Mr. Campbell, that this Council accept
the tender of Tripp Construction Company Limited of $182,067.79, for
the installation of sewers and water mains in Fairport Beach.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 19/65
MOVED by Hr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Waring, that the Reeve and Clerk
be and they are hereby authorized to sign on behalf of the Township
the agreement contract dated January IS, 1965, with Messrs, Craig,
Zeidler and Strong for the plans and over-seeing the building of the
new Municipal Building, subject to the approval of our solicitors~

Mrs. McPherson seconded by Mr. Spang, moves for leave tomtroduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to appoint members to the Board
of the Community Centre and Athletic Field in Block V, Plan M-15. at
Bay Ridges, and that same now be read a first time.
Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that By-Law Number 2967
to appoint members to the Board of the Community Centre and Athletic
Field in Block V, Plan M-15, at Bay Ridges be now read a second time,
and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.

Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2967 be adopted, and that the said

Mr. Spang. seconded by Mrs. McPherson. moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to appoint members to the Board of
the Community Centre and Athletic Field in Block DA. Plan M-ll, at Bay
Ridges, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Newman. moves that By-Law Number 2968 to
appoint members to the Board of the Community Centre and Athletic Field
in Block DA, Plan M-ll, at Bay Ridges, be now read a second time, and
that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

$1,500,000.00, and that same now be read a first time.

authorize the borrowing of $1,500,000.00 be now read a second time, and
that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.'

AGREED Mr. Harold Elliott meet with Finance Committee at Brougham on
January 27th re McIntosh agreement,
AGREED Clerk write Wm. Jones of Transonic at Ajax welcoming his
radio station to Pickering Township.
Councillor warinf suggested that Clerk might write owners of Fairport
re signing petit10n for street lights. AGREED Township should take no
action of this nature re petitions as the heading of the petition gives
all available information,
AGREED Clerk advertise for Clerk in 3 issues of Globe and Mail and
Toronto Daily Star.
AGREED that all Councillors submit their road priorities for 1965 to
Chairman before next meeting.
AGREED Finance meeting February 4th and lIth at 8 p.m.
On motion of Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr, Spang, the meeting adjourned
at 10: 40 p. m.
