A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on MONDAY. the
ELEVENTH day of JANUARY, 1965, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

1. Tenders were opened for the installation of water and sewer
mains in Fairport Beach, and resulted as follows:

Mr. J. A. Ta!lor advises that the Ontario Municipal
approved by- aw for construction of water and sewer
Fairport Beach, with three changes in by-law. Asks
reading. See By-Law No. 2927.

Miss Evelyn Perry is not happy to wait for Conservation Authority
to straighten Duffin's Creek before Concession 2 Road in Lot 20
is improved. Reeve get firm commitment from Authority.
4.
Bell Gouinlock and com}any Limited ask, that they be permitted to
act as fiscal agents 0 the Township for 1965. See Resolution
No. 13/65.
5. Stan Hosken, of North Bay, asks that he be permitted to install a
cable television system in West Bay Ridges. and also that he be
given the right to erect a master television tower in a greenbelt
area in West Bay Ridges to a height of approximately 80 feet.
See Resolution No. 14/65.
6. Johns-Manville will arrange a tour of its plant at the convenience
of Council. Council accept at a later date.
7. Mrs. Margaret J. Brown - t~an~s for appointment to High School
Board.

8. De~artment òf Highways .of Ontario will consider and advise Town-
ship re their sale to the TOWI\ship of three acres south of Police
Station.
9. Department ofHi~hways of Ontario approves purchase of Grader,
with subsidy up to$lG,377.00.
lO. Department of. Highways of Ont ario approves purchase of Truck.
with subsidy up to $5,508.53.

ll. Mill rate for street lights at Green River, 1st 3 years - 19.2.
Mill rate for street lights at Green River, after 3 years - 8.3.
12. Ontario Municipal Board approves $269,516 for sewer and water at
Fairport Beach.
13. Department of Municipal Affairs approves winter works, Fairport
Beach sewer and water project, up to $24,000.00.
14. Department of Health - new requirements re Air Pollution Control.
15. Lloyd Johnston. Clerk of the Township, tendered his resignation
to be effective February II, 1965. See Resolution No. 15/65.
16. G. Cook complained about condition of Greenwood Road. Referred
to Road Committee.
The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
1. MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that L. G.
Squires be heard. CARRIED
Mr. Squires asked for two taxi licenses. It was AGREED that
By-Law Committee find out how other municipalities distribute
taxi licenses, then work out a pOlicy, and Mr. Squires be advised.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 11/65
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Spang, that it is with a great deal
of regret that the Council accept the resignation of Mr. L. T. Johnston
who has been the Clerk of this Township for one-third of a century,
and that we wish him well in his new endeavours. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 12/65
MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Newman, that the tenders
Fairport Beach water and sewer projects be submitted to the
Engineer for his perusal, and to report back to Council.

MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Wank, that Bell Gouinlock and Company
Limited be again appointed fiscal agents for the Township of Pickering
for the year 1965 under the same financial agreement as operated in
the years 1964 and 1963. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 14/65
MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Stan Hoskin be permitted
to erect a cable television system in West Bay Ridges.. subject to an
agreement with this Township Council and that Mr. Hoskin be required to
get the consent of the Planning Board for the erection of a tower in
a greenbelt area in West Bay Ridges; subject to the Engineer's
approval. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that the Township
of Pickering advertise for the position of Township Clerk, and that
the position be made known to employees, and that they may apply, and
that this be advertised in the Globe and Mail, Daily Commercial News,
and local papers. etc. CARRIED

MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Campbell, that Resolution
No. 3/65, passed January 4, 1965, Clause 4, reading "Ajax-Pickering
General Hospital Board .,.... Mr. H. Boyes" be amended to read, "Ajax-

BY-LAW NUMBER 2927 (Third Reading)

The Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2927 to authorize the
construction of water mains and sewers in Fairport Beach, arises and
reports the By-law as read.
Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-law No. 2927 be adopted,~~~~~ the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same. and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2965
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves for leave to introduce
a by-law of the Township of Pickering to appoint a member to the
Board of Directors of the Ajax and pickering General Hospital for the
year 1965, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that By-Law Number 2965 to
appoint a member to the Board of Directors of the Ajax and Pickering
General Hospital for the year 1965, be now read a second time, and
that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read.

Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2965 be adopted, and that the
said by-law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and

Councillor Camtbell felt that as the Township road signs around
Dunbarton are eing torn down t the Police should endeavour to find
and punish the culprits. Clerk cont act Police Chief.

Councillor Wank felt that the dogs had too much rope in Rouge area,
and perhaps the dog catcher should make more visits.
DIRECTIONS
1. Clerk advise Roy Carter and C. Baxendale re proposed cost of
street lights in Green River.
2. Contact Stevens, Hassard and Elliott re McIntosh-Del Brocco
ägreement, and endeavour to get signed,
