A meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the -SIXTLLNTH day of
DECEMBER, 1961, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. Markham Village Fire Department submits a bill for $320.00 for
attend~ng three fires in Pickering Township in 1961. See
Resolution No. 379/61.
2. Tenders were opened for the construction of Rosebank water mains
and resulted as follows:

The following PERSON, on MOTION, was heard:
1. Mr. Bert Sandham stated he had contacted several members of
the P~cker~ng Village Council and felt he would have no
difficulty in getting Council to drop their objection to
his car race track at new location in Con. 1, Lot 16. See
Resolution No. 377/61.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 376/61
MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that the overhanging
branches of tree on the road allowance abutting Mr. Morton's property
on Wharf Street be removed. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 3'7/61
MOVLD by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Laycox, that this Council
apply to the Ontario Municipal Board for an amendment to the
Zoning By-Law in Lot 16 of the 1st Concession to permit an Auto
Race Track and Sports Area, and that a by-law be prepared. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 378/61
MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the Village of
P~ckering be informed of our motion re the amending of zoning of
Lot 16 (south half) south of Highway 401, Concession 1, and that
we request their comments. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 379/61
MOqLD by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that this Council pay
the Village of Markham Fire Department for services during three
fires in Pickering Township the sum of($320.00) Three Hundred and
Twenty Dollars, re attached invoice from Markham Village, and that
this fee be paid by the Brougham Fire Area. CARRIED

RESOLUTION NUMBER 380/61
MOVED by Mr. Deak~n. seconded by Mr. James. that this Council
request the Ontario Department of Highways to erect flasher lights
at the corner of White's Side Road and No.2 Highway. and also one
or two light standards to illuminate the corner. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 381/61
MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes. that the sanitary sewe~s '4~
ln the West Rouge be placed on the boulevard on the opposite side ~/'
of the street to the water main. CARRIED 0- .
RESOLUTION NUMBER 382/61
MOVED by Mr. Laycox. seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the tender, alter-
native "B" in the amount of $158,129.45, as submitted by Dundas
Construction Company for the construction of water services in
~he Rosebank Area be accepted,subject to satisfactory bonding and
~nsurance. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 383/61
MOVED by Mr. Laycox. seconded by Mr. Boyes, that payment be approved
~n the total amount of $861.30 covering honoraria and mileage for
the Planning Board for the period June 30th to December 11th. 1961,
as detailed in the attached statement. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2626 (Third Readin¥)
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports By-Law Number 2626
for undertaking the construction of waterworks extensions to serve
the Rosebank Area of Pickering Township east of the Rouge River,
as a local improvement. as read.
Mr. Laycox. seconded by Mr. Mowbray. moves that the report of the
Committee of tne Whole on By-Law No. 2626 be adopted. and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same. and the Seal of the Corporation be
affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. James. secopded by Mr. Boyes, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering for the municipality to take
over and assume certain streets in Bay Ridges as Township streets
under the Township Road System and for the Township to assume a
certain watercourse. and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. James. seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that By-Law Number 26qa
for the municipality to take over and assume certain streets in .

a second time. and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. James. seconded by Mr. Laycox, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2643 be adopted. and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mr. Chapman try to arrange with Chief Lynde for the parking of
two sand trucks near Fire Hall with heater plugs.
2. Clerk advise Greenwood Park Board of a Recreation meeting this
Wednesday at Brougham.
AGREED Council meet December 28th at 8 p. m. to pass December accounts.
