The following COlUtESPONDENCE was read:
1.
F. S. Wotton, Co-ordinator of Public Survival County of Ontario
and City of Oshawa, asks Council to appoint a local co-ordinator
of Public Survival. See Hesolutibn No. 270/61
James S. Band, Deputy-Minister of Department of Public Welfare,
reminds us of the service being provided by the Ontario Society
for Crippled Children and suggests that any crippled children
in our municipality be registered with the Society.
The Su~erintendent. Trenton Division of C.P.H., has submitted a
copy 0 the notice they have placed in Claremont Station.
The Board of Transport Commissioners for Canada, advise that if
the Township wishes to oppose the application to remove the
Claremont agent-operator Mr. Spence avd Mr. 1Unp should be
advised by August 24th.
AGlŒED that Mr. H. Spang, Mr. M. Mowbray, and Heeve Scott be
a committee to meet with the Claremont Businessmen regarding
opposing the removal of the agent-operator.
Department of Hi~hways of Ontario advise that the Agreement
signed with the Township re part of Lot 31, B.F. H.3, has been
approved.
Fire Chief Don ~nde asks permission to attend the Canadian
Fire Chief's Co erence to be held in Kitchener late this
month. See Hesolution No. 271.

7. T", O. Jefferson, Township Engineer, submits a Capital Woñts
programme 1"or works to be carried out through his department
covering the next five years. He did not include in this
programme the West Houge sanitary sewerage, which has already
been approved by the Ontario Municipal Board and the Ontario
Water Hesources Commission.

8. Hecommendations from the Planninø; Board (Meeting of Aug. 4 1961)
(No.4) Mr. Wells Hitchie submitted valuable comments on Metro
Toronto's Heport, "Towards a Waterfront Plan". Copies of these
comments distributed.
MOVED by Mr. Hitchie, seconded by Mr. Davidson, that since
Pickering Township would be vitally concerned with these devel-
opments, Pickering Township Planning Board through Council,
should acknowledge and support this Metro Planning Board proposal
and suggest the name of a representative on the Advisory Committee.
Carried.
The Council took no action.
(No. 15) Donald S. McIntosh has made application to have
Blocks C, E, F, and G on Hegistered Plan No. M-36, Hougedale
Acres Subdivision, rezoned to pennit commercial usage.
MOVED by Mr. 1t:Ltchie, seconded by Mr. Clarke, that it be
recommended to Council that Blocks E, F and G (only) ltegistered
Plan M-36, Rougedale Acres Subdivision, West Houge, be re-zoned
to pennit commercial usage. Carried

application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval to rezone
Blocks E"G, F, of Plan M-36, to pennit of Commercial use, as per-

MOVED by Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Deakin that:
WHEHEAS the extension of the water system will require an elevated
water tank;

AND WHEKEAS the location recommended by the engineers for this tank
is the high land on the east side of Liverpool Hoad north of No. 2
Highway;
AND WHEHEAS only very few sites in the area have the required ele-
vation, and it is expedient to obtain this site while the land is
still available;
BE IT HESOLVED that this Council purchase a one acre site from Mr.
Hoy Nurse for a price of $3,000.00, and that the Township Engineer
select the site and obtain a survey if required and that the Township
Solicitor prepare the necessary documents and that the Heeve and
Clerk be authorized to sign same.

MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that this Council make
application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of consent
for Mrs. Margaret Marshall, who owns 49 acres in Lot l8 Con. 2, to
convey to her son, Noel Marshall, a building lot loOt, X 300', sUbject
to the condition that any dwelling built thereon have a minimum floor
area of 1200 square feet and also that there be no further subdivision
of Mrs. Marshall's property without a proper subdivision plan as
recommended by the Pickering Township Planning Board Aug. 4" 1961.

application to the Ontario Municipal Board for approval of consent
for Fred Annis Major to convey to his son, Walter Clark Major a
parcel with 600 ft. frontage by 200 ft. depth, on which Mr. Major,
Jr., has lived since 1952, parts Lots 29 and 30, Con. 4, as reC-
ommended by the Pickering Township Planning Board August 4, 1961.

Mr. ßoyes, seconded by Mr. James, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to establish a Community Centre
at West Rouge, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that By-Law Number 2625 to
establish a Community Centre at West Houge, be now read a second
time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2625 be adopted and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Heeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed

~r. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes, moves for leave to introduce a
ßy-Law of the Township of Pickering for undertaking the construction
of waterworks extensions to serve the Hosebank Area of Pickering
Township east of the Houge Niver, as a local improvement, and that
same now be read a first time.
Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that By-Law Number 2626
be now read a second time and that Council go into Committee of the
Whole thereon.
