The ToWh of Ajax, by resolution, congratulate the Township on its l50th year of Municipal Government. Notice that the Federation of A~riculture or the County of Ontario will meet at Legion Hall in Uxbridge on June Sth, at 10 a. m. Main topic - zoning. Solicit.ors for Charles Wilcox tender their cheque for $25.00 and ask for a wrecking yard licence on Station Road under old By-Law No. 2052. Reeolu;ion WOe 179/61. THE FOLLOWING PERSONS, on motion, were heard: MOVED by Mr.. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Mr. Sandham be heard re auto race track. CARRIED Mr. sandhffi stated he was pre'pared to locate his auto race traolt Oft t e southerly 35 aCres of his faN at the east half or Lot 28, Concession I, that the C. N. R. had permitted him to enter frøm Concession 1 until the track is built, that he had purchase4- a right-or-way to White's Road 600 feet north or Concession 1; he would spend $70,000.00 on track, seats and, equipment immediately; that he would estimate the taxes to be approximately $6,,000.00 per year, that the track would only be used ea¡ch Wednesday between 8 and 10:45 p. m. See Resolution No. 176 61. - 2 - MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Laycox,that Mrs. Sharpe be heard, re dog kennel licence on Southview Drive. CAIUnED 2. Mrs. SharPe stated that she wanted a kennel licence, that the persons who took up .a petition against her having a licence had stated she wanted their area re-zoned, which is not truel and if given two weeks she could, present another petition showing her neighbours do not object to her having a licence, but do object to re-zoning. MOVED by Mr. Deakin seconded by Mr. Laycox, that Mr. Guest be heard re kennels. CARßlED 3. Mr. Harry Guest presented a petition of 14 names of persons who owned land in Plan 469 who objected to a kennel licence being granted Mrs. Sharpe ør re-zoning the area. MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Laycox, that Mr. Aile rton be heard. CARRIED 4. Mr. Allerton introduced Mr. Goldman who proposed to operate a non ferrous smelting plant in the north half of Lot 22, Concession 3, adjoining C4 P. R. tracks on 18 acres. He would meltdown scrapped aeroplanes for aluminum and copper. He would install two furnaces at a cost of $30,000.00, with a small building. They now employ 5 men. There would be considerable smoke and smell, but they would build a chimney as high as necessary. This operation would not be pennitted in Toronto because of smoke. Council agreed to inspect the location at 8:30 p. m. on Wednesday, May 3lst. RESOLUTION NUMBER 176/61 !lOVED by Mr. Laycox seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that Mr. Sandham obtain from his suppliers an estimate of cost of installations in proposed stock oar racing track on the east half of Lot 281 Concession I, and that his estimate be submitted to the Township Assessor (Mr. Goslin) for his estimate of taxation and assessment and that this Council again view the proposed property. MOTION LOST RESOLUTION NUMBER 177 61 M VED by r. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the Clerk be instruoted to advise Mr. Bennett' s soli~itor that we require the removal of the gate prior to June 5 of 1961 which Mr. Bennett has placed at the entrance to the right-of-way, inasmuch as the Township is entitled to free and uninterrupted access. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 178/61 MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Council take no action regarding the obstruction of the Township road in Morganìs Park, in view of the fact that the Metro Conservation Authority is proposing to expropriate all the lands involved. CARRIED .RESOLUTION NUMBER l79/6l MOVED by Mr. Laycox, secondea by Hr. Spang, that no action be taken at this time in regard tG application for wrecking yard licence presented by solici~ors for Mr. Wilcox, by reason of the fact that such use is prohibited by a by-law which has had two readings. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 180/61 ~OVED by Mr. Laycox" seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the Building Inspector the Township Engineer, and the By-Law Enforcement Officer be instructed to enforce to the limit of their power the repairing or removal of dangerous structure abutting on Mr. A. Strachanl,s property on Taylor Road. CARRIED - 3 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 181/61 MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Laycox, that the letter of Mr. Dand to Mr. Laycox be forwarded to the Police Commission with the request that prompt attention be given to the ,points raised and that Mr. Dand be infonned that this has been done by reason of ,the fact that this is a matter for the Police Commission. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 182/61 MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the Reeve and Clerk be authorized to sign an agreement of sale with the Depart- ment of Highways of Ontario for 486 square feet for Highway No. 2 widening from the East Rouge Township Park in Plan 346 for the sum of $110.00. CARRIED BY -LAW NUMBER 2617 Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to provide for a two year teØM for elections of trustees to Township School Area Boards, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes, moves that By-Law Number 2617 to provide for a two year tenn for elections of trustees to Township School Area Boards, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2617 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED YEA: Messrs. Boyes~ Deakin, Laycox, Scott, James, and Mowbray. NAY: Mr. Spang. Councillor Mowbray told Council that General Printers Limited, of Oshawa" were going to print ttThe Pickering Storytt, that they agreed to print and deliver by July 1st, and that the cost would be within the limits set by Council, and recommended that the book sell for $4.00 per copy. IT WAS AGREED members of Council meet members of the Union about ã grievance Wednesday, May 31st, at 7:30; inspect Lot 22, Con. 3, at 8:30" and meet Ea.t Rouge Park Board at 9:30.
