the Chair.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Ontario Municipal Board, have oonsidered the Township Restricted
Area By-Law No. 2511 ~zoning south of Hwy *401, other than Bay
Ridges and East of Ajax) and will set a date for hearing as soon
as possible.
2. Wes~ ROUÆe Community Association submit a resolution, asking
that the 5 Township lots on Kirkdene Ave. in West Rouge, be
developed under a Board comprising 6 members - 2 from West Rouge
~ommunity Association, 1 from the Ladies' Club, 1 from the
Kiwanis Club and 2 from Counoil, and that Council lease these
lands to the Board for $1. per year. .
3. Ontario Munici~al Board ask that By-Law No. 2551, which
enlarged the garbage area, be repealed by a By-Law showing only
the additional area to be added and not repeal the original
By-Law.
Resolution,
4. ~ MacBean. M.O.Ø., wants to be assured that occupancy pe~its
1 not be issued in Bay Ridges before the water and sewage
plants are in operation.
5. Mr.. J.L.. Cann of the CeN.Re By-pas,s advises that they have
agreed to an overpass on Rosebank Rd.
6. Dept. of Transport submit new forms for stop streets and ask
Council to repeal By-Law No. 2549 and use new form.
~. Claremont Canadian Legion thank Council for Township grant in
fleu of taxes on their Claremont Hall.
8. Following Township request that stop lights be placed on No.2
1Iwy. opposite No. 1 Fire,.Hall, and the Dept. of ijighways
refusal, but with recommendations that certain firemen be
sworn in as constables to stop traffic, our Police Chief
recommends that the No. 2 Hwy be floodlit at the entrance to the
P~re Hall. .e would have firemen sworn in as police constables
t'Or this purpose and suggested they be equipped with
illuminated stop signs at least 16" in diaaeter.
9. M~tropolitan Toronto a~ Re~ion Conservation Authority ask that
members appointed to t at Board for 1961 be submitted by Dec.
31, 1960, if possible._

Road and Works Depts.
(1) Recommend refunding $5. stand-by payments for week-ends
(2) Recommend 3rd week holidays in 1960 to men who have
completed 10 years service prior to June I, 1960.

The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
Messrs. Horgan and Shankman of Consolidated Building Corporation
appeared and stated they have not as yet been able to secure a
guarantee Bond of $625,000. as 'required by agreement, so asked
Council to accept their marked cheque for $625,000., and asked
that new lesser cheques be submitted, according to amount of
$ervices completed, .~ $25,000. rlv~
. After consulting with our Solicitors, no action was taken
µntil our solicitors were satisfied, and Mr. Horgan agreed to
meet Mr. Stevens on Dec. 20th.
Mr. Shankman stated that both Sewage and Water Plants,
þeing constructed by Findlay McLaughlin Ltd., would be completed
þy Sept. 1, 1961; one-half completed by May 31st and a portion
pf the plants used, for up to 1,CCC homes by February 1961.

Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2558 to increase the limits
of the Pickering Township Garbage Area be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Ccrporation be

Q~cil~~r LaJcox felt an Industrial Committee should be named,
said that a 7 ~illion dollar warehouse was available for this
area and thought the south part of the Caharles Risk property
shculd be zoned for Industry, in order to get the Robertson
plant and others.
CLERK find cut if the volunteer firemen are covered.by Workmen's
bompensation while engaged in water rescue.
