The follow-1ng CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Ontario County Fa~ Safety Council report: 155 accidents between
March 1, 1959 and February 29, 1960. Medical bills, $21,875.00;
property damage, $115,108.00, with 11 fatal accidents; so submit
resolution that all rural councils clean up brush and weeds
growing on roadside corners to provide clear vision for traffic.
2. Rouge Bills Lions are sponsoring the forming of a Safety Council
for Pi,dkering Township and ask a representative of Township at
their meeting in Lion's Building December 5th, at 8 p. m.
3. Metro Plannil1l; Board minutes of November 16th. Reeve and Chairm~n
of Planning Board asked that Gardiner Expressway be extended
through Pickering Township.
4. Objections to closing Rosebank Road for C. N. R. By-Pass:

D. Ont&rio Munioipal Board will hear application of Rougedale Acres
for registration in Toronto, Deoember 20th, at 10 A. M.
6. Hr. J..Ii, Wilks, D. B. O. will not grant permission for the
installation of red "Stop" lights at Woodlands Fire Hall and
No. 2 Highway, but recommend that several of the firemen be
properlT deputized to stop traffic.
7. Resear~ Director on Dutch Elm disease sounds optimistic note
in 5 pase brief. Thinks disease can be controlled.
8. Mrs. L. CassidY, corner Base Line and Pickering Beach Road
asks th-* Council request the Gray Coach Lines bus to travel
the Base Line from Liverpool to Oshawa, at least part of the
time. This, she claims, would benefit many people in her area.

, The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
'1. Mr. R. Gordon and delegation of three asked Council if the
Rosebank Road was to be closed by the C. N. R. By-Pass and if
so, they wished to protest as it would be of great inconvenience
to them. Reeve Scott stated he had held out for an overpass at
Rosebank Road when he last met with the C. N. R., would be
again meeting them Tuesday, December 6th, and would take a
resolution from Council that this road be not closed; also the
eight letters submitted by owners to Council protesting such a
closing.
2. Mr. John KilUl:ston, steward for the Road Department Unionl stated
he had not received satisfactory answers from Road Superintendent
nor Road Department Chairman, so asked Council:
(1) That the $5.00 week end stand-by time for road men be paid
as it is still a resolution of Council and such payments
have not been kept up since August 1st last.
(2) That all employees with 10 years service were entitled to
3 weeks holidays as of August 1, 1960, when agreement was
signed. Reeve Scott stated Council would get advice from
our Solicitor on both questions.
3. Mr. James Torrens, Fairport, asked Council when he might get
deed to his two lots and was advised that our solicitors were
now working on the matter.
4. Robert Clarke asked Council to expropriate right-of-way into his
lots at Fairport and he would pay a part of the cost.
5. Mr. F. S. Wotton, Co-Ordinator, Emergency Measures Organization,
County of Ontario and City of Oshawa, explained the structure
of the organization stating: County Budget of present organ-
ization $20,000.00; Federal Department pays 75%, Provincial,
15%, and County and City, 10%. Asked for a Township By-Law
naming a committee comprising heads of Policel Firel Welfare 1
Engineer, and a rescue officer. He said he had asked for a
siren at Dunbarton, then the south part of Township would be
well covered; that he now had approval of 30% grant on Fire
radio equipment recently purchasedl and that he would work with
any committee named by By-Law in the Township.
6. Mr. Jack Chapman asked Council to give direction about gravelling
Greenwood Avenue and part of Morgandale. See Resolution * 399/60.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 398/60
MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Pickering Township
Council representative as well as the Planning Board representative
object strenuously to any changes from the original C. N. R. plans
in regard to the diverting of Rosebank Road and White's Side Road.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 399/60
MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. James, that permission be
granted to the Road Department to gravel and spread gravel on
Greenwood Avenue for a distance of approximately 700 feet east of
Pinegrove Avenuel and that snow removal be done for this same
dis~ance subject to prior paYment being made by residents. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. James, that the Road Department
be authorized to gravel and spread gravel on the Morgan'·s Point
Road, sUbject to prior payment of gravel by the residents. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 401/60
MOVED BY Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that Council accept the
quotation of Wilson and Cousins Company Limited of 1 only three
section aluminum heavy duty ladder, 35 feet, @ $343.00; 1 onlI
Marlow Portable Pump, 2!" intake, 2!" outlet, complete with 22 X I!
adapter, $450.00; 1 length 1!1t double jacket nylon fire hose X 50
feet, @ $48.00; total expenditure, $841.00; and authorize Chief
Lynde to purchase same for Fire Area No. 1, as provided in the
1960 budget for this Fire Area. CARRIED
ßESOLUTION NUMBER 402/60
MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Laycox, that Pickering Township
Council grant permission to Mr. and Mrs. C. Campkin to live in the
small house on the property of Mr. Joseph Amos after the addition of
a 10 X 10 room and other renovations to winterize and bring up to
permanent residence standards with approximately 700 square feet.

MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Laycox, that Pickering Township
send flowers to Mrs. Daniel-Jenkins in appreciation of the work her
late husband has done for the Township in various capacity. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the November, 1960~
accounts, amounting to $274,090.55, and attached hereto be paid
by the Treasurer. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 406/60
MOVED by Mr. Laycoxl seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the previous motion
passing November, 1960 accounts, be rescinded. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 407/60
MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the monthly accounts,
less the total of Road Accounts, be approved. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 408/60
, MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the Road Depart-
ment accounts, in the amount of $28,439.10, dated Nov. 25, 1960, be
passed. CARRIED
AGREED Council meet December 29th, at 8 P. M., to complete unfinishe~
year end business and before, if necessary.
