A meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the TWENTY-FIRST day of
NOVEMBER 1960 at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

Recreation Committee have no funds left for 1960. Ask Council

Ontario Municival Board has officially approved enlargement of
Water Area No.1.

7. Township En~ineer submitted a proposed new Garbage Area.
8. Mr. Hidaka Community Planning Branch, has asked that run-off
ditches be cleaned out in Pickering and Scarborough Townships
to prevent flooding in spring. This letter was written
because of application of Mr. McIntosh for a plan.
9. Report # 24 of the Roads and Works Committee of Scarborou~h
Township will recommend to the 1961 Council that the sum of
~25,OOO.00 be paid Pickering Township to provide for over-
sizing Pickering Township culverts to meet requirements of
run-off from Township of Scarborough when completely built up.
Our Solicitors advise that Mr. Archibald is now acting for
Alex Picov on expropriation of Water Plant site, that Mr.
Picov is now prepared to accept $55,000.00 for 10 acre sitel
that our valuators are not prepared to raise their estimate
of value substantially above $20,000.00 to $251000.00 figure
and that Mr. Archibald has taken no further court action.
Concession 5 graded opposite Whitevale Cemetery. Never needed
a culvert before. Now charged $75.00 for 24t10" culvert. The
Cemetery Board feel that as it was not needed befor¡e grading
they should not be charged. See Resolution No. 392 60.
Ontario Industrial Development Conference - Royal York Hotel
- Thursday and Friday, November 24th and 25th.
T. O. Jefferson recommended that Township make water bills
payable at Al Hartts store in West Rouge and Township pay 5¢
per bill for this service.
A. W. Cane submitted a Welfare report showing 202 persons
receiving assistance for the month of October.

1. Mrs. Jos. Amos, of Concession 1, Lot 35, stated they had a
stone house on their property of 528 square feet where they
lived for five years prior to 8 years ago. She now wished to
add 100 square feet and let her mother and father live in it.
See Resolution No. 394/60.

MOvtD by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Recreation
Committee ask Council for approval to pay invoice to Coxwell
Sporting goods covering crests for O.R.S.A. Champions, Trophy r,or
Junior Girl Champions, Manager and Coach flashes, and addition,.
sundry crests at an overall estimated cost of $130.00. This'
material has already been ordered and delivery is expected
momentarily. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Laycox, that Pickering Town-
ship will not object to reverse lots on the Scarborough side of
the ScarboroUgb-Piokering Town Line. ' CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. Laycox seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, that all mileage
charged against Recreation Budget be charged to Welfare. CARRIEp

MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang that the Township of
Pickering bear the cost of the culvert at the entrance to the
Whitevale Cemetery. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 393/60
MOVED by Mr. Boyes seconded by Mr. Laycox that the Treasurer
be authorized to arrange with Mr. Al Hartt·s store be made a
collecting agent for water accounts at a rate of 5¢ per bill.

MOVED by Mr. Laycox seconded by Mr. Deakin, that a Committee of
Council inspect the Jos. Amos house and report to Council. CARRIED

BY-LAW NUMBER 2550
Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of
$33,941.96 upon debentures for public school purposes, and that
same now be read a first time.
Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. James moves that By-Law Number 2550
to authorize the borrowing of $33,941.96 upon debentures for public
school purposes, be now read a second time, and that Council go
into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Laycox seconded by Mr. Hawthorne moves that the report of
the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2550 be adopted and
that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that
the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation
be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. Boyes seconded by Mr. Deakin moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to increase the limits of the
Township of Pickering Garbage Area in the southern part of the
Township, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Boyes seconded by Mr. Laycox, moves that By-Law Number 2551
to increase the limits of the Township of Pickering 6arbage Area
in the southern part of the Township be now read a second time, and
that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

Committee of. the Whole on By-Law No. 2551 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Re~ve
