A meeting of Council was held on TUESDAY, the TWENTY-FOUR'DI day of MAY
1960, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Metro Toronto Conservation Authority acknowle~ge receipt of
Resolution No. 155 re "Development Road." to serve Conservation
Authority parks, an~ agree to co-operate.
2. Townshiv of Uxbri~.e::e en~orse this Township's Resolution No. 155
re a "Development Road" to serve Conservation Authority parks.
3. Devartment of HiZhways approval, $130,300.00 Roa~ Expen~iture
By-Law.
4. R. A. Jones, owner of Lot 138, Plan 331, asks Council to sell
him part of Lot 137, Plan 331, for $50.00, sai~ lot bought by
D. H. O. for road wi~ening of Hil1view Avenue. Roa~ Superinten-
~ent recommen~s that it be not sol~. See Resolution No. 195/60.
5. Plannin.e:: Boar~ resolution as to what is acceptable to them for
park purposes from Resources Lan~ Co-Operative Corporation -
28.254 acres.
The following PERSONS, on Motion, were hear~:

1. E. G. Baker state~ he ~i~ not refuse to atten~ a Committee
meeting but he ha~ no official notice to atten~ such meeting.

Reeve's statement that the staff coul~ "either go along with
the policy or get out", so they ha~ no choice but to resign.
However, they woul~ return to work "to the benefit of all
concerne~" provi~ed he be ma~e hea~ of the Collection Department
and responsible to Council, an~ be responsible for personnel,
~rafting tax bills, opening mail for his Department, and
purchasing tax machines when necessary, but not at present.

2. Councillor Snan.e:: aske~ Mr. Turk a number of questions about:
(1) The ~rafting of "new Township policy".
(2) The number of persons being use~ to write tax bills, an~

3. WilliamFair~rieve felt Municipal planning shoul~ be built on a

4. Mrs. Jean McPherson state~ that Deputy-Reeve Hawthorne should not
vote on the question of Mr. Baker's employment because he was
preju~ice~. The Reeve state~ Mrs. McPherson was out of or~er.

appoint a Weed Inspector to carry out the provisions of the Wee~
Control Act in the Township of Pickering ~uring the year 1960, be now
rea~ a first time.
