The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1.
~w Enf'orcement Officer submitted a report on Lot 52,
Plan 324, as follows: Outhouse referred to Health Unit, who
claill nothing can be done. Owner has been given until May
,25th to clear up lot.
~.re Officer asked permission to attend Ontario Welfare
Of'fleers' Annual Meeting in Hamilton June 12 to 15.
Mr. A. Anderson, of Pickering Beach, has œ en absent from the
last three Recreation Meetings and is thereby disqualified by
resolution of the Committee. A new member is requested.
COUQcillor Boyes will submit a name shortly.
in2ineer T. O. Jefferson recommended that Council accept the
$3,000.00 from Rouge Valley Shopping Centre, as set out in our
Solicitor's letter read to Council on May 9.

(1) Does Council give authority to Dog Catcher to have each
dog picked up.. Mr. Osterhout claimed Mr. Gerig had so
advised hi... lèeve stated this not true, but he would
investigate.
(2) Are tenders called for all Township equipment and if not,
why not. Reeve advised their tenders or quotations asked
for whaO: possible - cannot always be done.
(3) Who was responsible for errors on Area 2 and Claremont
School rates? Advised the Office Manager accepted f'ull
responsibility.

That the position of Office Manager had no value, and
$7,,000.00 spent on such a position was a waste of money.
Recommended that efficiency experts be employed to report
on work of present and former employees.

That he -favoured an elected High School Board and felt that
60% failures plus a heavy fall-out not fair to students.
Reeve explained that he also was not happy with the
situation and recommended he approach the High School
Board.

1. (8) Mr. 'Osterhout submitted a bill f'or$3.S0J being the cost
of a fan belt. on his car broken because of a .a hole on
road allowance between Lots 28-29 Concession 3. The
Reeve stated this road would be considered at the next
Road Committee meeting and the bill would be forwarded to
our Insurance Company for consideration.
Ct;) He felt the Township was at the best financial level in
many years and that it was due to the work of the Tax
Collector and to the operation of CotU1cil. He recommended
that the good financial position be maintained.
2. Howard J,owry stated that a house has been in the proce$s of' being
buil t on Lot 64, Plan 418 for some time and not nearly completed,,'
but the place is unnec ssarily littered with old materials not
essential in the building of the house. Councillor Iaycox con- r
firmed.'lhe By-law Enforcement Officer said he would or had
contacted the Building Inspector Fire Department, Road Depart-
ment and Health Unit in the hopes of getting the situation
rectified.
3. Mr. Norman Churcher joined Mr. Lowry in the above complaint.
4. Mr. R. Neal joined Mr. Lowry in the above complaint.
5. Mr. CreiJz:hton complained about his being f'orced to cut weeds, and
owner on Lot 64, Plan 418, not required to do so.
6. Councillor Deakin asked for a Fire Committee meeting to discuss
a Bell Telephone proposition to handle all Fire Calls in the
Township f'or $140.00 per month.

of the Reeve from the MtU1icipality, the Deputy-Reeve shall exercise
all the rights, powers and authority of the Head of' the Council.

Mr. Baker and Mrs. Spang not be accepted before May 30, 1960, but
shall be accepted on that date, at a meeting of Council, unless they
see fit to meet with Councilor a committee of Council to express
their views, on Tuesday, May 24th, at 8 p. m., Mr. Turk to be present.
