A Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the TWENTY-SECOND day of
FEBR~YJ 1960, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

MOVi) by Mr. .Jaœes, seconded by Mr. Spang, that Minutes of meeting
held February 8, 1960, be adopted. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Iaycox, that Minutes of meeting
held February 15, 1960, be adopted. CARRIED
The following CORRESPONDQNCE was read:

H. A. Newman advises that he has sold most of his holdings around
Frenchman's Bay and that he is not now interested in special
ra te s .
Metro To.nto Planninlr Board submit copies of proposed recommended
changes in Master Plan for area south of Concession 2 and west of
Pickering and Ajax from Township proposal of 1957.
Rou~ H,ilJ. Community Park recommend following names as Board
members for 1960: John Rawbon, William lang, George Botton,
Robert Smith and Che ster Ufnall.
Ontario C,unty Health U~it advising that they have adopted Bedside
Nursing Service at a net cost of 3¢ per person from April 1 to
December 31, 1960.

Miss Viole~t Swan, owner of a farm in south half of Lot 28,
Concession 2, with house and 3 acres rented to the Canadian
Legion now asks that that portion of property rented to Canadian
legion be tax ex~t. ßeferred to Finance Committee to discuss
with Assessment Commissioner.

WiJliam Fair~rieve asked what action Council has taken about his
re.quest for taxes to be paid in tour rather than three instalments
and what constitutes a fixture in the plumbing $1.00 per fixture
resolution. Reeve Scott stated Council had considered the four
payment tax idea and abandoned it as being too expensive because
o~ extra book work, also that the Works Department would define
a ~fixture when application made.
Robert. St.g)i8rt of West Rouge Ratepayers' Association stated his
area badly needed an ice rink, that all the associations in area
had met and agreed that a full investigation be made to secure
,an artificial rink, that they can secure a good used plant in-
stalled for $43,500.00 guaranteed, which is 50% of original cost,
that they would like to use the Township 5 lots on East Avenue,
that operating costs could be met by admission fees. Some of
the costs in the $43,500.00 would be building for equipment,
$4,500.0~J footings, $500.00; Fencing, $5iOOO.00; HYdr.o, $5,000.00¡
GravelJ $1,400.00; Sand, $500.00; Water, ,400.00; and Header '
elineh, $2,000.00.

Mr~ Stewart ~sked Council to give them an indication if.Couneil
would (1) let them use the 5 lots; (2) back the necessary deb-
entures.

MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, that Council members
and Planning Board members' mileage be increased from 8¢ to lOt.

MOVED by Mr.. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the Road Depart-
ment be authorized to purchase the following from J. D. Adams Company;
Blades and Miscellaneous Expenses - $ 684.67.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 91
MOVED by Mr. laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Township take out
1960 membership with Ontario Mayors and Reeves Association. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 2486
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Spang, move s for leave to introduce a By-
law of the Township of Pickering to appoint members to the Rouge
Hill Athletic Field and Community Hall for the year 1960, and that
same now be read a first time.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Laycox, moves that By-law Number 2485 to
appoint members to the Rouge Hill Athletic Field and Community Hall
for the year 1960 be now read a second time, and that Council go into
Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Hawthorne, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-law No. 2485 be adopted, and that the said
By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk
sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2486 (Two Readings)
Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to provide for the establishment
and regulations of a volunteer Fire Department in the Township of
Pickering, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that By-Law Number 2486 to
provide for the establishment and regulations of a volunteer Fire
Department in the Township of Pickering, and that Council go into
Committee of the Whole thereon.
AGREmI! Road Inspectionbe changed from February 27 to March 12.
Clerk phone D. H. O. re Liverpool Road and bumps to Highway 401 at
Fairport Beach and Moore Roads.
