2. pavid Lennox stated the Hydro Electric Power Commission had
~urveyed its transmission line between Frenchman's Bay and Cherry-
~ood through his orchard, taking ~bout 1/3 of it, which would le~ve
~n orchard which could not econom1cally be used, and asked Counc1l
to support him in asking the Hydro to build elsewhere. Reeve Scott
stated Council members', would view the proposed routes next Saturday.
3. tir. Wm. Fair~r1eve stated it was unfair that a member of Council
should be given a position as head of a department; that he believed
Mr. Ashton the best man for the position and that Mr. Cane was much
~der paid for the position he holds.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 76/60
MOVED by Mr. Deakin, Seconded by Mr. Spang, that the Road Department
be aµthorized to purchase from Sifto Salt Limited:
25 Ton Bulk Highway Fine Salt - @ $12.30 - $307.50
Subject to Department of Highways approval.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 77/60
MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Council make application
to the Department of Highways of Ontario for the balance of grant due
on the 1959 Road Expenditures of Pickering Township amounting to
$ 245,343.38. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 78/60
MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. laycox, that Council accept the
resignation of Mr. Harry Ashton as Councillor for Ward Three, dated
February lOth, 1960, as of February 15, 1960. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 79/60
MOVED by Mr, Spang, seconded by Mr. James, that we pay to the Citizen's
League of Brougham and the Trustees of the Police Villa~ of Claremont
$50.00 per month rental for the use of that part of their fire halls
used to house the fire fighting equipment, and that they agree to
maintain same and provide heat, light and care taking of same. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 80/60
MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang, that Council pay the
attached account of $20.00 to Maclean Hunter Publishing Co. Ltd.
for renewal of Publication "Civic Administration". Copies to be
mailed to Reeve Deputy Reeve, all Councillors and the Engineer.
As well as renewal of "Municipal World" at $21.00 per year. CARRIED

RESOWTION NUMBER 86/60
MOVED by Mr. laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the Township of Pick-
ering grant acquiescence to Eastown Shopping Centre Limited to discharge
normal storm drainage into the watercourse Which normally drains their
lands, provided that. they sign an agreement as drawn up by the Township
Solicitors as follows:-
1. The Culvert on Port Union Road on the watercourse be increased
~o take the increased run off from their lands, including re-
instatement of Port Union Road and improvement of the exit at the
$ast side of the culvert, at no cost to the Township of Pickering.
2. Pay to the Township of Pickering on demand a sum of money equal
to the additional cost of culverts, within Rougedale Acres
Subdivision, to oversize these culverts to take the total
additional storm drainage from their lands, The Township
Engineer shall determine this amount when Tenders are accepted
by Rouge dale Acre s Subdivision, and the Township shall credit
Rougedale Acres with this sum towards their Engineering costs.
3. Pay forthwith to the Township of Pickering the sum of Five
Hundred Dollars ($500.00) towards the overaizing of the culvert
which drains this watercourse at East Avenue.
4. Pay the Township of Pickering the costs of drawing up this
agreement.
It is further RESOLVED THAT this agreement shall not constitute
indemnity to Easttown Shopping Centre Limited against any action
whatsoever under the Ditches and Watercourses Act and the
Municipal Drainage Act.

Mr. Edgar James, æconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduee
a By-law of the Township of Pickering to appoint a Head of the Depart-
ment of By-Law Enforcement and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Laycox, moves that By-le.w Number 2481 to
appoint a Head of the Department of By-law Enforcement be now read a
second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arille s and reports the By-law as read.
Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that the report of the Committee
of tqe Whole on By-Law No. 2481 be adopted, and that the said By-law
be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the
same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce a By-
law of the Township of Pickering to amend By-Law Number 2477 re Fire
Areas and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Laycox seconded by Mr. James, moves that By-Law Number 2482 to
amend By-Law Number 2477 re Fire Areas be now read a second time, and
that Council go :Into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read.
Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that the report of the Committee
of the Whole on By-law No. 2482 be adopted, and that the said By-law
be now read a Thir4 time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign
the same, and the Së'al of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. &akin, seconded by Mr. James, moves for leave to introduce a By-
law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of
$208,300.00 upon debentures for Public School purposes and that same
now be read a first time.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that By-faw Number 2483 tÇ)
authorize the borrowing of $208,300.00 upon debentures for Public School
purposes be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee
of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. laycox, moves that the report of the Committee
of the Whole on By-law No. 2483 be adopted, and that the said By-Law
be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign
the same and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
Bonds on Employees were submitted to Council and Council directed
they be kept safe in the vault.
