Johnston The Minutes of previous meeting, held November 1, 1954, were read, and on M91ION of Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Newman, adopted. CARRIED The Minutes of previous meeting, held November 8, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, adopted. CARRIED The Minutes of previous meeting, held November 22, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, adopted. CARRIED The Minutes of previous meeting, held November 30th, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Newman, adopted. CARRIED The following CORRESPONDENCE. was read: 1. Oahawa General Hosuit~ - 1954 Indigent Balance account of $1,625.21. Clerk to advise that account in the hands of Finance Committee. for consideration. 2. Road Suuerintendent - advised cost of road to proposed school in Hough subdivision is Jï7;2l6.00. 3. Josef Staudinger complained re culvert and drainage, Concession 1, Lot 27. The following PERSONS on MOTION were heard: 1. Mr. TaYlor, of Gairdner and Company, Bond Dealers, who purchased our recent $ 193,000.00 Bond issues, stated that the bond market was not as good as it was and they still had one-third of issue on their hands and asked that no further debentures be sold until they had cleaned up these. Council agreed to hold up new issue until January 15, 1955, but Gairdner to let us know if they disposed of them prior. 2. Messrs. Miller and Beer of Brougham Park Board asked if grant now available. Council agreed it was , on receipt of Option on land. 3. Father McGivney asked that Separate School supporters be relieved of former Public School Debentures. ' 4. Mr. Tyas. Mrs. Hull and Mrs. Phin asked Council to lay sidewalk on Altona Road to school and if possible charge to School Section. 5. About 35 relatives and friends of six former Wardens of the TownShip of Pickering, and of Messrs. Hector and Donald Beaton, presented portraits to the Reeve: Ex-Reeve Ralph Mowbray presented portrait of his father, R. R. Mowbray, Warden 1893 ~nd 1909. Thoaas Scott presented on behalf of his father, W. G. Scott, warden, 1920. Mr. Richardson. a nephew, with a letter trom W. H. Moore, presented tor Fred Richardson, Warden, 1922. - 2 - W. J. Beaton presented portraits of G. M. Forsyth, Warden, 1928; William Reesor, 1943, and his father and grandfather, Clerks for years 1846 10 1944. Henry Westney presented his father's portrait, W. H. Westney, Warden, 1949. The Reeve, in a few well-chosen remarks, accepted the Portraits on behalf of the Township. MOVED by Mr. New:rÎIan, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that Delbert Goslin be Assessment Commissioner of the Township at a salary of t3,400.00. CARRIED AGREED A. J. Thompson be By-Law Enforcement Officer for whole of Township, with extra time spent in Assessment Depar~ent, subject to approval of Police Commission, and that he work under the Township Council from Municipal offices. BY-L4W NUMBER 2047 Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves ror leave to introduce a By-Law or the Municipality or the Township or Pickering to close an unopened side- line in the Township or Pickering, and that same now be read a rirst time. Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that By-Law Number 2047 to close an unopened sideline in the Township of Pickering, be now read a second time and Council go into Committee or the Whole thereon. The Committee or the Whole then arose and reported. Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that the report or the Committee or the Whole on By-Law No. 2047 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal or the Corporation be afrixed thereto.
