TODD, in the Chair C. A. BALSDON H. G. MICHELL L. T. JOHNSTON MOVED,by Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that Minutes of previous meeting held September 1st, 1954, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Minutes of previous Emergent meeting held September 13th, 1954, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that Minutes of previous Emergent meeting held September 16th, 1954, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Minutes of previous Emergent meeting held September 27th, 1954, be adopted. CARRIED The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. Seaway Enterprise, thanking for Township co-operation and stating that they could do no more building in this Township until mortgages could be more easily arranged. Building Inspector, advising value of September permits Year to date, $ 2,456,600.00, average value dwellings, 2. Arrears collected September, $7,176.57. Balance Mrs. E. H. Harrod, Plan 410, complained about roughness of Concession 1 and sideline between lots 34-35, and wanted "Not a Through Road" sign on this sideline. Concession 1 now paved. Sideline will be scraped regularly and sign posted. Mrs. I. M. Croker asked for permission to sell the remaining parcel of land at Frenchman's Bay - a parcel about 34 feet by 80 feet. AGREED it would have to be sold to' a neighbour, as the lot is too small for a house and septic tank. The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard: 3. 4. 5· 1. Earl Ho~le, of 489 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa, asked that the Sharrard Cemetery, Concession 6, Lot 21, be brushed and weeds cut. AGREED Council have work done at a cost not to exceed $ 50.00, with Mr. Hogle agreeing to pay one-half cost up to $ 25.00 for his share. W. C. Willson, re sheep inspection of H. Miller. 2. 3. 4. G. Van Blaricom, Whitevale, re assessment. Reeve Morley and Clerk Ho~arth, Pickering Village advised Council that a petition is circulating to have 300 acres in Lots 17-18, Concession 1-2, annexed by Village. Albert Skelton, Frenchman's Bay, asked that Clerk be authorized to sign year-round Hydro card on his 20 foot by 20 foot summer cottage, assessed at $ 175.00. 5· Council refused, as building did not conform. - 2 - 6. w. H. Westney asked that Greenwood Road signs be changed. Old Road is between Lots 10-11 and New Road is in Lots 12-13. Signs are reversed. Road Superintendent change. 7. Harry Brock complained that his business assessment was high and thought that the Bowling License of $ 50.00 was high. MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell that this Council rebate George Barlow, Concession l, Lot 33, $ 62.00:,fš·ñè~removed his workshop on his 1953 assessment which amounts to $ 3.90 on his 1954 taxes. R.3, Lot 33, $83.00~š"'šñe removed a shed on her 1953 ' assessment, which amounts to $ 5.23 on her 1954 taxes (Roll No. 2387)· CARRIED ,..- e. ) MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that the License for Bowling Alleys be reduced from $ 50.00 to $5.00 per alley. CARRIED \ MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that account of $ 394.17 of Mr. Hodgson, who dug, tiled and topped new Police Station well be paid by Treasurer when account properly submitted. P. R. Cherrywood Station. Advise Robert Martin that he must remove bridge across ditch, Con. 2, Lot 33, south of subdivision, by' October 30, 1954. Prepare By-Laws to take over Usaty and Martin subdivisions. Give Albert Skelton letter that Council refuse Hydro at Fairport. Rush Horton on survey of Tweedie Hill. Rush Bell Telephone on removing two poles, Concession B.F. R. 3, Lot 29. Have owner of Plan 331, Lot 2' meet Road Superintendent re ditching. Have Mrs. Davis of Markham secure culvert to her new house in Morgandale Ask Road Superintendent to change Greenwood Road signs. C. A. Balsdon reported that it was decided with Mr. Eric Playford that a ditch be dug by the Township farther into marsh and ground to be levelled~ Work will be done this week.
