An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY the NINTH day of
AUGUST, 1954, at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.
PRESENT: G. T. Todd, in the Chair
C. A. Balsdon
W. G. Newman
W. G. Lawson
H. G. Michell
L. T. Johnston
The following PERSONS on MOTION were heard:

W. B. Milne asked for a grant to the Markham Fair Board for 1954,
and suggested that the usual $ 35.00 grant be increased to $ 50.00.
Mr. Travnor and delegation of four asked that the Kennel License granted
Mr. Scott in Plan 346 be rescinded and that he be forced to keep his
dogs on his own property and not let them run at large at any time.
Council to investigate.

R. B. Wells, who had submitted a Tender on the Police Building discussed
plans and prices of well, painting, etc.
Dr. Loos - re Septic Tank By-Law.

MOVED by Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that a grant of $ 50.00
be given the Markham Fair Board for 1954. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that Council instal free
five new culverts in Fairport where the Road ~uperintendent removed
former culverts in order to do proper ditching. CARRIED
CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Notify Cliff Schwalm that Mr. Reginald Scott's dogs in Plan 346
are causing a nuisance in running at large . '
2. Notify Mr. Scott in Plan 346 that Council have had complaints about
his dogs running at large.
3. Get Highway Permit for Police Office.
4. Arrange with Road Superintendent to do $ 65.00 value work on Squire's
Beach subdivision private road.
5. Have T. M. Moore prepare By-Law to regulate commercial piggeries.
BY-LAW NUMBER 2034
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering to designate
certain registered plans to be under subdivision control pursuant to
Chapter 277 of the Planning Act, Revised Statutes of Ontario, 1950,
and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that By-Law Number 2034
to designate certain registered plans to be under subdivision control
pursuant to Chapter 277 of the Planning Act, Revised Statutes of Ontario,
1950, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of
the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported.
Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, moves that the Report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2034 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED

BY-LAW NUMBER 2035
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a By-
Law of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering to take over certain
roads in Plan No. 538; and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves that By-Law No. 2035 to take
over certain roads in Plan 538, be now read a second time, and that the
Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported.
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. ~lichell, moves that the Report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2035 to take over certain roads in
Plan 538, be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time
and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal
of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED.
On MOTION of Mr. Balsdon, the meeting adjourned.
