A Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the FIFTH day of JULY, 1954,
at TEN o'clock in the forenoon.

The Minutes of meeting held June 2, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, adopted. CARRIED
The Minutes of meeting held June 14, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of
Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, adopted. CARRIED
The Minutes of meeting held June 28, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, adopted. CARRIED

meeting to organize an Association to study rural-urban problem.

8. Irven L. McLean. asking that his sideroad between Lots 8 and 9,
Concession 5, be ditched. AGREED bulldozer root out trees as soon
as possible.
~. A lex. Gordon, Highbush Trail, wanted creek at rear of his lot
straightened. Not Municipal matter.
-10. S. Lewchuk, Concession 1, Lot 29, asked that the stumps and stones
put on his lands when Township took over their road, be removed.
Council agreed to inspect and report next meeting.
The following PERSONS, on Motion, were heard:
) 1. Mr. James, Concession 5, Lot 13, asked that sideline be ditched
and that water be channeled through his property in one place rather
than at a dozen or so places.
~ 2. Mr. Colquhoun asked for a Taxi License. No Action.
~ 3. Mr. Griffith, Concession 1, Lot 20, complained about dust. Valley
Farm road will receive another coat of calcium.

Mr. Allen, Concession 2, Lot 27, asked about subdivisions, Municipal
watèr, and Township division.
Mr. Polanvi, Plan 283, discussed his water and erosion problem.

MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. ~lichell, that Council purchase
( a six-acre gravel pit from Mrs. Soden in the north half of Lot 15,
Concession 5, as per original offer of sale for price of $ 10,000.00
payment to be made as can be arranged with Department of Highways.

bonded for $ 2,000.00. CARRIED
7 MOVED by Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Newman, that $ 275.00 account of
John Fallaise for blueprints of Police Building be paid. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon that Council meeting held
on second Monday of each month be open to receive delegations.

garage.
Get copy of Township of Whitby By~Law to have Registered Plans
under subdivison control.
Write for Mr. Jackson to look after Township Dump as agreed, to
start August 1st. If available, advertise hours and days dump
open.
Write C. N. R. spray their right-of-way at Fairport Road to kill
Poison Ivy.
Planning Board Minutes for each Council member.
Prepare By-Law, one family per house.
AGREED Dick Tweedie hill be surveyed and widened.
Mr. Balsdon reported that Road Superintendent and he recommended 12 culverts
in Hough subdivision be replaced, move mne cross-road culvert, and deepen
ditch.
Rebates 1954 Taxes

house burned January 28, 1954, and barn burned April 5, 1954.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2028
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law
of the Township of Pickering to open, as a Public Highway, part of Lot 26
in Concession 1 of the Township of Pickering; and that same now be read a
first time.
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that By-Law NumQer 2028 to open,
as a public Highway, part of Lot 26 in Concession 1 of the Township of
Pickering, be now read a second time and that Council go into Committee of the
Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported.
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that the Report of the Committee
of the Whole on By-Law No. 2028 be adopted; that the said By-Law be now
read a third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and
that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

BY-LAW NUMBER 2029
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to close a portion of the allowance
for road in Lot 26 between Concession I and Range 3 Broken Front, for
the purpose of building a Police Station at this location; and that
same now be read a first time.
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that By-Law Number 2029
to close a portion of the allowance for road in Lot 26 between
Concession 1 and Range 3 Broken Front, be now read a second time,
and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported.
Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that the Report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2029 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that this meeting do now
adjourn to meet again on TUESDAY the THIRD day of AUGUST, 1954, at
10 o'clock in the morning. CARRIED
