Todd, in the Chair Clare A. Balsdon William G. Newman William G. Lawson Hugh G. Michell Lloyd T. Johnston The Minutes of meeting held June 2, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, adopted. CARRIED The Minutes of meeting held June 14, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, adopted. CARRIED The Minutes of meeting held June 28, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, adopted. CARRIED The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: ) 1. Township of Trafalgar, asking if this Township would attend a meeting to organize an Association to study rural-urban problem. AGREED ......, 2. -, 3. -, 4. Horton~ Carr and Haymes, survey of Lot 29, Range 3, corner. Karl POlanYi, Plan 283, complaint - water and erosion. S. Stephenson, President of South Pickering Ratepayers' Association, asking that [1) Members of the Rural Group who have petitioned for division of the Tovmsh~,Jr meet their Association to discuss boundaries. (2) School Area boundaries be left until Township divided. (3) School Section 2 new building be held up until School Area working. (4) Police Building be held up until division made. '> 5. F. J. Gordon, Highbush Trail, wanted creek at rear of his lot straightened. Not Municipal matter. -10. S. Lewchuk, Concession 1, Lot 29, asked that the stumps and stones put on his lands when Township took over their road, be removed. Council agreed to inspect and report next meeting. The following PERSONS, on Motion, were heard: ) 1. Mr. James, Concession 5, Lot 13, asked that sideline be ditched and that water be channeled through his property in one place rather than at a dozen or so places. ~ 2. Mr. Colquhoun asked for a Taxi License. No Action. ~ 3. Mr. Griffith, Concession 1, Lot 20, complained about dust. Valley Farm road will receive another coat of calcium. ------- - 2 - Mr. Allen, Concession 2, Lot 27, asked about subdivisions, Municipal watèr, and Township division. Mr. Polanvi, Plan 283, discussed his water and erosion problem. Council to view. '> 4. 5. 6. John Fallaise presented his blueprints of Police Office. / 7. Mr. Corson, Concession 4, Lot 7, discussed his Fenceviewer's Award. MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. ~lichell, that Council purchase ( a six-acre gravel pit from Mrs. Soden in the north half of Lot 15, Concession 5, as per original offer of sale for price of $ 10,000.00 payment to be made as can be arranged with Department of Highways. CARRIED ) MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Douglas Plitz be bonded for $ 2,000.00. CARRIED 7 MOVED by Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Newman, that $ 275.00 account of John Fallaise for blueprints of Police Building be paid. Mr. Balsdon reported that Road Superintendent and he recommended 12 culverts in Hough subdivision be replaced, move mne cross-road culvert, and deepen ditch. Rebates 1954 Taxes 1. Application K. C. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2028 Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to open, as a Public Highway, part of Lot 26 in Concession 1 of the Township of Pickering; and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that By-Law NumQer 2028 to open, as a public Highway, part of Lot 26 in Concession 1 of the Township of Pickering, be now read a second time and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported. Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that the Report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2028 be adopted; that the said By-Law be now read a third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED - 6 - BY-LAW NUMBER 2029 Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to close a portion of the allowance for road in Lot 26 between Concession I and Range 3 Broken Front, for the purpose of building a Police Station at this location; and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, moves that By-Law Number 2029 to close a portion of the allowance for road in Lot 26 between Concession 1 and Range 3 Broken Front, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported. Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that the Report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2029 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
