An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on TUESDAY, the TWENTIETH
day of APRIL, 1954, commencing at EIGHT o'clock in the evening.
PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair
Clare A. Balsdon

Hugh G. Michell
The following CORRESPONDENCE wâs read:
1. Planning Board, Scarboro~h. Cop~ of By-Law to regulate subdivisions.
2.
Women's Auxiliary, Ajax - Pickering Township General Hospital, asking
permission for a Township Tag Day June 5, 1954.
Fines - March, 1954 - $ 1l5.40.

Municipality of Paris, asking Council to endorse Resolution to have
Province take over all County and Suburban Roads. No Action~
R. W. Larabee, Pickering, asking for a Bus Franchise from Ajax to
Pickering Village through the Township in about two or three years'
time. AGREED that when he is ready to operate and has concrete
plans Couneil will receive his application for Franchise.

The following PERSONS on MOTION were.heard:-
1. John Fallaise presented blueprints for a new Police Office. As the
cost was considerably less for a larger building with no basement
than the plan with garage and cells in basement, Mr. Fallaise was
asked to draw p~ans with one storey and no basement.
2. 'Cl'i.fford' Schwalm read 'th'e þr'op'os'ed' Dog By-Law and approved except
he wanted no dog held more than 72 hours and he wanted permission
to accompany the Police Chief or his Deputy onto the property of
any person whose dog had bitten any person.
3. Mr. Culley, Frenchman's Bay, complained about water drainage. As
the Council had inspected this complaint several hours before,
they told Mr. Culley how they proposed to remedy the complaint,
which was agreeable to him.

4. Mr. Bruce Garratt and delegation representing 17 of 19, owners of
lands of between 2 and 5 acres in Lot 35, B.F. R. 2, presented a
Petition requesting Council to amend the Zoning By-Law so that
farm privileges in so far as they apply to the keeping of Livestock
be permitted on lands as small as two acres instead of the present
five acres in this area.

5. R. C. Reesor, A lfred Kayes and Leo Wilson asked that li miles of
Fourth Concession from Brock Road West be paved because of the
heavy gravel truck traffic.
6. E. K. Jones stated that Mr. Lawrence would let him know for sure
about his taking the Assistant Assessor's position by 8 P. M.
April 2l, 1954. If not successful advertise in Globe and Mail and
Daily Star.
7. F. W. White again asked for his claimed $ 200.00 back pay and
holiday pay.

MOVED by-Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Section 6-1-12 of
Zoning By-Law west of Rouge be changed to read "2 acres" rather than
"5 acres" in Lot 35, B.F. R. 2. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Lawson, seconded by Mr. Newman, that permission
the Womens' Auxiliary of Ajax and Pickering Township General
hold a Tag Day in the Township of Pickering on Saturday, the
June, 1954. .

MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lãwson, that the residents of the
Township of Pickering observe a period 'of Daylight Saving for the current
year, commencing at 2 o'clock a. m. on Sunday, April 25, and continuing
until 2 o'clock a. m. on Sunday, September 26. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Pickering Township
Council make their usual grant o£ $ 30.00 to 'Brooklin Spring Fair. '
