PURSUANT to the Warrant of the Clerk, dated the 25th day of March, 1954,
and Election held on the Ninth day of April, 1954, as directed by Judge
Pritchard, the Members-Elect of the Municipal Council of the Township' of
Pickering met at the'Municipal Building in Brougham on the l2th day of
April, 1954, at the hour of one o'clock in the afternoon! viz:

Queen Elizabeth II and the Declaration òf Qualification on the day of
Nomination, took b4fore the Clerk their respective Declarations of
Office, and took their seats at the Council Board, the Reeve in the
Chair.
Rev. Ralph King, of Whitevale, conducted the Dèvotional Address, and
on MOTION of Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson, a votë of thanks was
tendered him.
The MINUTES of the previous meeting of Council held on March 1st, 1954,
were read, and on ~OTION of Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson,- ADOPTED.

DeÐartment of Public Works. Notification that a Conservation Authority
has been gran~ed "for the Rouge River, Duffin's Creek, Highland Oreek,
Petticoat CreeK Watershed, that a meeting will be held at Markham,
Ambrose House,' a't 2 P. M. on Wednesday, April l4th, and they request
that two members be present.

TOWBehiÐ of Scarboroue:h, advising that until their Water'Pumping Plant
is enlarged, it will be impossible for them to supply any part of
Pickering Township with water. However, as a contract has been let
to increase capacity, it is possible a contract may be negotiat~d at
a later date.

No. 7 Highway at Kinsale from the south side, and at Greenwood from
the N.orth side.

Letter fróm County Clerk, County of Ontario, asking that Council
advise them if'it is in 'order to renew the Wrecking License of
Joseph Barjak at Brougham for the year 1954.
'1'. M. Moóre; Advice that Debentures for School ,purposes may bè
financéd through the Bank, providing the Debenture is issued within
two years of date of passing. Information not in full. Mr. Lawson
will contact other Municipalities who use this method of financing.

Mr. Roy Ward, Road Superintendent, reported on Mr. Saunder's drainage,
Mr. King's drainage, and cinder path on Altona Road.

Write Mr. Moore on how to collect for a school sidewalk. Council
believe that this should be erected and chargeable to the School
Section rather than to the owners whose lands abut, as the frontages
are wide and it is for the use Qf the Section rather than local.
It would be oDe-half mile long with comparatively few abutting
owners.'
Hold up Hart Kennel License until ·a new Dog By-Law~ is passed.
Have Police charge Ryder again for living in a tool house.

Write Department of Highways to have them make a better approach
on the Town Line between Whitby and Pickering onto No. 7 Highway.

the Corporation of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of
$ 75,000.00, and that same now be read a first time.
