Todd, in the Chair Clare A. Balsdon Hugh G. Michell William G. Newman · William G. Lawson Lloyd T. Johnston The MIN~TES of the previous Meeting, held on JULY 2nd, 1953 were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Balsdon, SECONDED by Mr. Michell - ~ADOPTED The MINUTES ~f a later Meeting, held on JULY 27th, 1953 were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Michell, SECONDED by Mr. Balsdon - ADOPTED The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. Mr F.J. Prouse - BuildinE Inspector. Value Permits, July - 1953. $ ~06,200 00 Valu~ Permits to date-1953.~$ 1,~76,150~00 2. Mrs. William Sloan -'Highbush Trail complained about tree roots left on side of the Road in front of her place. 3- Property Department - Department of Highways - advising that their parcel of land' in~ Concession 1, Lot 26, where Council wished to build a Police Office, is not for sale. The following PERSONS on NOTION were heard: 1. Gerald C0want Mrs. Dean and Delesation were heard about taking Over the roads in Rosebank West of the Ravine. Mr. Cowan claimed that in about 1920, he gave 60 feet plus 6 feet to Roads to the Township, and they accepted them, but the Township has never done any work. Clerk to check. 2. Mr. Lorne Ltds~er - asked for two (2) Taxi Businesses if he purchases the Hare Taxi Business. 3- Mrs. I. MacLean and Mr. M~han asked Council to take out the Co-Operative Health Plan for the Township Employees: Hospitalization: $28.00 - family $14.00 single Sur ~e ry: ~30 · 00 f~mi ly~ $15.00 single~ 4- Mr. W.C. Willson was heard re Alex Gray Sheep claim. 5. Mr. Charles McIlveen asked permission to operate a "Dog Racing Trials" in Concession 1, Lot 31 next .to the First Concession. These "Trials" would be operated mostly Saturdays, but not on Sundays. 6. Mr. Lusteed ~ Concession 1, Lot 17 - asked if he could secure~ a permit to build a house on his property north of the Canadian National Railway, Picketing Station. AGREED he could~ -2 - MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, SECONDED by Mr. Newman that the Fence Viewers Fees be increased from $2.5© to $5.00. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Michell, SECONDED by Mr. Balsdon, that the Sideline between Lots 26 and 27 in the First Concession be closed from Concession I to Strouds Street for the period of Foresters' Dance on the evening of August 28th next, and that the said Foresters' provide men at each end for the entire length of ~losing. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, SECONDED by Mr. Michell that Mr. William Lawson and Mr. William Newman be a committee to approach the Department of Highways re our purchase of their property in Concession 1, Lot 26 for a Police Building Site. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, SECONDED by M~. Lawson that the application to the Municipal Board for larger housing on new subdivisions also include larger housing for consents granted by our Planning Board. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, SECONDED by Mr. Lawson that the application of Mr. L. Lidster for 2 Taxi Licensis be approved, subject to the approval of Chief Hill. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, SECONDED by Mr. Lawson that Council take the Ontario County Co-Operative Hospitalization Plan as a Pay Roll deduction at rates of $28.00 for' ~arried employees, $14.00 for single for Hospitalizatioh and $30.00' ~ried with $15.00 single for Surgery, and that only full time employees be accepted with Council paying one-third of the cost. CA,tRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, SECONDED by Mr. Michell that the maintainer scrape Rosebank ~Circle imediately for $1.00. CARRIED ~ AGB_k~D that a Ke'nnel License be granted Mr. Bassinde in Broken Front, Range 3, Lot 31 if recommended by Mr. Newman. MOVED by Mr. Newman, SECONDED by Mr. Balsdon that permission for "Dog Racing Tr~ialS"~ be not granted Mr. McIlveer~ in Ooncession 1, Lot 31. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, SECONDED by Mr. Lawson that a six foot sidewalk be built from Pickering Village li~ne to the High School entrance by September 1st, if possible by the Road Department. CARRIED AGB~D that Constable Robert Ma~ters be permitted to resign as a North Picketing Constable, that he turn in all equipment to the Clerk not needed by South Picketing Police, and that the equi. pment turned over to the South Police Department be listed and valued. MOVED by Mr. Newman, SECONDED by Mr. Balsdon that the Clerk advise C.
