Rolson - petition requesting that the Zownsh'ip "property drain Toynevale Road in plan 350, so that excess water does not drain onto their lands" - Agreed that Council inspect situation on their regular Spring Road Inspection which will be within 2 weeks. t~r. Peter A. ~nite - resigned as Truant Officer as of March 1953". .... Department of Highways - approval of White Truck and ~ox with a Hoist for $$500.00. Police Department - Money Order for $34.00 - summons money for January 1st, to ~larch ll, 1953. 6.- Department of Highways - advising that used 19~9 International Truck will not be eligible for grand until 1955, and then only, if satisfactory. 7. Mr. Grant adivising: 1. Checking our agreement with Picketing Village. 2. Public School Boards can spend any amount on Capital costs in Cttrrent ~'unds. 3. Township can build Police Office out of Current Budget funds. - 2 - 8. Miss A. M. Hick - advising that she will not permit her water- course in B.F., R 3, Lot 16 to be deepened by Council - Clerk is to advise interested ratepayers to get in touch with the tenant Mr. George Mutch to use influence. 9. Stguffville Fire ~Bri~ade - agrees to service Altona Area, N ~ Lots, 27 to 3~ inclusive in 8th Concession, and lots 27 to 3~ inclusive in 9th Concession for $60.00 for first 2 hours and $16.00 for each additional hours. Claremont ~)ire Brigade agrees to release the Area to Stouffville. 10. Frenc_._hman's Bay Ratepayers Association - asking about their Fire Protection now that Picketing Village is Incorporated and the possible use of Fire Alarms - The Clerk will advise them. ll. Police Report - ~Iarch, 19~3. Shop Breaking - 1 Complaints - 73 Thefts - ~ Accidents - ~ Assault - 2 Juvenile Con,plaints - 4 Drunk Driving - I Value of ProPerty- Autos Stolen - 2 Stolen $1,890.00 Autos Recovered - 41 Recovered $6,255.00 Occurrances ~-l~ Fines $ 250.00 The Smelt fishermen are again causing much concern to the residents close to ~the waterways and Lake front. Accidents have been numerous and we are checking on the over-loads. May I again suggest the setting up of a Civil Defence Comma- it~ee,~ we are at the present without any organization to take over in ~the~ case of a National Emergency. We may never halve a war,~ but if one should occurr, this vitalarea is totally without any means of coping with the many needs, and we would be ~jus. t running around in circles. Not trailers.handed over to Sanitary Inspector who reports that both of the p~emises are condemed, and not now used for habitation. 15. Mr. H. A. Newman - advising that no appointment can be made with Municipal Affairs Department until after Session is over. 16. Judge McRae - advising us of the resignation of ~Ir. P. C. Wilson - accepted by the Police Com~ission. 17. Application of ~ervin Annis for a Plan of 8 lots near BrOugham. NO ACTION -3- 18. Mr. George Menar.y - agreed to excavate and fill new.Dunbarton Road for $17,400.00. 19. Ivir. Peter '~nite - Truant Officer Account - 125 l~liles - ~'~arch @ .06~ is equal to $10.00. Mr. C. E. Lewis - Canadian General Electric Company is advising us that they would like Range Lines between lots 35 closed as soon as possible. 21. Mr. A. J. Hanchard - Community Programmes Branch is advising us that no grants can be made for 1952, except where money is handled by the Board as set up by the Council. 22. Appl~ications of Mr. W. Appleby to erect an Electric Fence on the Road so as to kill the brush on Fence Line. ~ Agreed. 23. Mr~. C. S. Ross - is -advising us that he kas removed the Barricade on the road allowance as requested by Council an~d that he w~ants the road properly ditched. 2~. Mr. W. E. McEachnte presented two $10.00 ambulance bills of March 22, 19~3, claiming he could not get payment and asked Council to pay. Agreed he try harder with the Assistance of Police who ~rdered th~. Service. Persons Heard: 1. Mr. Ashton - asked approval for '~¥recking license on the property of Eli Haysuch in Concession 2, Lot 26. 2. Steve Kalmuk asked for a taxi License to replace Tony Polani's licen'se as he has bought the Picketing ~ordon House and Taxi business. Referred to P£ckering Village Council. A De'leMation comprising Of ~essrs. W. Westney, Harry~Boyes, Percy Neale and Ben Bryant asked that~ Council do preliminary work on New Greenwood Road starting at No. 2 Highway so that at a later date it may ~eceive a hard top finish. 4. Percy Neal~ - Chairman of the High School discussed the proposed Debenture issue of $~10,000.00~ 5. Mr. C. E. Morley discussed Township Insurance. 6. Rev. Davidson and Mr. Langille discussed the possibility of the erectiOn""'of a swimming tank. Council would consider making a grant or assisting in the work if the Committee would find a location. 7. Charles McTaggart re Warble Fly Control. ~0VED by Mr. Newman and SECONDED by ~. ~ichell that a further notice be sent to all Fire Chiefs askin~ them to submit to the Clerk a list of all calls to persons who carry the ~faple Leaf Fire Insurance and the time spent at each so that the Township may receive a grant from the Maple Leaf Fire Insurance Company, and if the same is not forthcoming, the Township grant will be held up. Ashton be recommended for a County Wrecking License on four acres of land owned by Eli Haysuch in Concession 2, Lot 26, providing that ~® 'ge~s pe~- mission for same from all owners with a radius of ~ a mile from such c amp. CARRIED ~OVED by Mr. Newman and SECONDED by ~vIr. Lawson that the Insurance be taken-out with Mr. C~ E. Morley to protect Township in their spraying of cattle for any damage that may be caused.
