HomeMy WebLinkAboutFebruary 13, 1953 MU N I C I P A L B_U I L D I N G BROUGHAM An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on FRIDAY, the THIRTEENTH day of FEBRUARY at ~N~ o'clock in the afternoon. PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair Clare A. Balsdon Hugh G. Michell William G. Newman William G. Lawson Messrs. Hoover and J. S. Balsdon, representing Spraymotor Sprayers, were heard, and they quoted a "Triplex Spraymotor - 400 gallon tank on skids, Engine 15 H. P., O.A.C., Roadside Boom - 200' ~-7 ply hose with safety couplings , one warble fly gun, one tank filter with 25 foot suction hose with starter", for $ 1,760.00. Je.hn Bean and Company, of Burlington, submitted a price of $ 1,830.00 for a similar sprayer, with steel tank. MDVED by Mr. Newman, secondgd by Mr. Lawson, that the offer of Spraymotor be accepted, as priced for $ 1,760.00. CARRIED AGREED that Ivan Beare, of R. R. 3, Picketing, give quote, along with Russell Gray,~ of Brougham, for four-tube lighting fixtures. AGREED that Fairport Beach Ratepayers meet Council on March 2nd at 7 P.M. at Brougham Municipal Building. The Reeve reported that the Policemen demanded of the Police Commission that a general increase of $ 400.00 be given them over and above the increases granted in the 1953 budget, and on behalf of the Commission, asked if Council would agree to ~further increase. MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Council take no action in recommending increases for the Policemen , but that Council stand behind the 1953 Budget, as submitted, by the Police Commission. TABLED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that Motion re Police salaries be tabled for one hour. CARRIED One Hour Later MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Council take no action in recommending increases for the Policemen; .but that Council stand behind the 1953 Budget as submitted by the Police. Commission. CARRIED Council requested A. E. Calvert, K. H. J. Clarke, H. A. Newman, Vaughan Willard, Jos. Edwards, Allister Grossart, and Charles Cooper to meet them and discuss the formation of an Industrial Committee, Ail were present excepting Messrs. Edwards, Grossart and Cooper, who were unable to be present. It was agreed that all above gentlemen should sit on the Boar~~ and that it should be called the Picketing Township Industrial. DevelOpment Committee, that a meeting should shortly be called of the members and discuss preliminary work to be done, such as drawings of industrial area, advertising, and organization. MOVED by Mr..Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Council form a ~ering Township Industrial Development Committee". CARRIED  by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that the Pickering Township trial Development Committee should be composed of the following members: A, E. Calvert, K. H. J. Clarke, H. A. Newman, Vaughan Willard, Joseph Edwards, Allister Grossart and Charles Cooper, and that same be confirmed by By-Law setting out periods of appointment. CARRIED Clerk supply Mr. Newman of names, addresses and telephone numbers of memb ers. On MOTION of Mr. Newman, the meeting adjourned.
