1. Welcome
T. Ryce started the meeting at 7:00 pm by welcomed those in
attendance and provide regrets from J. St. Amant, S. Munir,
and K. McKay.
2. Approval of May 17 Agenda and April 19th Minutes
Motion: to approve the agenda as written

3. Clerks – Board & Committee Training
L. Harker provided direction that T. Ryce had reviewed the
training with the committee at the previous meeting. Any
questions can be forwarded to L. Harker in the Clerk’s office.
4. Accessibility Training
T. Higgins completed the Accessibility Training with the
members present.
J. Sabean would like to discuss at a later date Accessibility
regarding Heritage Buildings.

5. Public Art Policy
Ideas for Public Art were briefly discussed by members.
Outdoor work out area in parks for seniors/adults
Have bell boxes painted
Adopt a road – idea will be forwarded to Sustainability
team
Larger Arts projects outlined by the Waterfront Task
Force grant in 1999
Lishman Proposal – sculpture of Peter Mathews plowing
Public Sculpture in the Altona and Brougham to
represent the heritage of those communities
Horses on the land in front of Museum
Woodcarvers – working on wood from piers found in
Frenchman’s Bay depicting figures from the 19 Century
Mural Roots – depicting longstanding business of
Pickering History along Hwy 2 corridor
Arts Centre art installation – Curtain Call – lit structure
forming an informal stage outside the entrance of new
Performance Art Centre
To have a play written to depict how war letters sent
back home to the women, the lives of the bomb girls &
women on the home front
Historical recognition
Cultural Recognition
Gateways for City and Neighbourhoods
T.Ryce provided public art tool kit to committee members for
review.

6. Review of Work Plan
T. Ryce distributed and reviewed the memo to Council
regarding the work plan
