A n E M E R G E N T meeting of Council was held on TUESDAY EVENING
the FIRST '&ay *f MAY 1951, commencing at 7.30 P.M.E.D.T.
PRE.SEN?:. Mr. W. H. Westney, Reeve, in the Chair
D~. N.E. McEwen, Deputy-Reeve and
Councillors C.A.Balsdon, F.E.Zinkie and M.B.Bu~k.
A letter was read from Mr. Gordon T. Wilson, Concession 8, Lot 3,
asking for a bonus on his road fence.
MOVED by Mr. C.A.Balsdon, seconded by Mr. M.B.Bu~k, that bonus be
pa-~Mr. Wilson, providing the fence is erected to the. satisfaction
of the Road Superintendent. CARR]
MOVED by Mm. Balsdon, seconded b~y Mr. Bu~k, that Council purchase one
Ca-a-~pillar, 65 h.p.. Stationam~ Power Unit from Geo.W.Orothers LimitE
for$3,527. plus 8% tax, less $725. allowance for present Hercules Ux
subject to approval of the Department of Highways. CARE!
MOVED by Mr. Balsdon seconded by Mr. BUrk, that Roy Ward's salary
as Read Superintendent be increased from $3,000. to $3,300. MOTION ]
AGREED the Dominiom Pension representative attemd next COuncil meetil
~elative to a Municipal Pension Plan.

Mr. Cla~e Balsdon, seconded by Mr. M.B.Bu~k,~ moves £or leave to
introduce a By-law to increase the levy for the Federation ef
Agriculture, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Clare Balsdon, seconded by Mr. N.E.McEwen, moves that By-law
No. 1864' to increase the levy for the Federation of Agriculture,
be now~ read a me~ond time, and that the Council go into Committee
of the Whole thereon.
Mr. Clare Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Fred Zi~kie, moves that the
Report of the Committee of the WhOle on By-law No. 1864 be adopted,
and that the said By-law be now read a third time and passed; that

Mr. F. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. C.A.Balsdon, moves for leave to Intro,
a By-law to levy a certain tax rate on Police Ames No.1, and that
now be read a first time.
Mr. F. Zinkie, seconded by D~. N.E.McEwen, moves that By-law No.1865
to levy certain tax rate on Police A~ea No.1, be now read a second
time, and that the council go into committee of the whole thereon.
Mr. F. ~.tnkie, seconded by Mr. M.B.Burk, moves that the report of
the committee of the whole on By-law No. 1865 be aAopted, and that
the said By-law be now read a third time and passed; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same, and that the seal of the Corporation be

Mr. F. Ztnkie, eeeonded by Mr. M.B.Bumk, moves for leave to introduc,
a By-law to appoint a Board of Management for the Clamemont Athletic
Field and Park and of the Claremont Community Hall, and that same no~
be read a first time.

No. 1866 to appoint a Board of Management for the Claremont
Community Memorial Athletic Field and Pa~k and of the Claremont
Community Hall, be now read a second time, and that the Council
go into. Committee of the Whole thereon.

of the Committee of the Whole on By-law No.. 1866 be adopted, and
that the. said By-law be now read a~Third time and passed, that the
Reeve 'and Clerk sign the same, and that the seal of the Corporation

introduce a By-law to assess the several Public School Sections
and Union Public School Sections in the Municipality, and that
same now be read a first time.
Mr, M.B.Burk, seconded by Dr. N.E.McEwen, moves that By-law
No. 1867' to. assess the several Public School Sections and Union
Public School Sections of the Municipality, be now read a second
time, and that the Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
Mr. M.B.Bu~k, seconded by Mr. C.A.Balsdon, moves that the Report
of the Committee of the Whole on By-law No. 1867 be adopted, and
that the said By-law be now read a third time and passed; that the
Reeve and Clerk sign ~he same, and that the seal of the Corporation
