An EMERGENT meeting of Council was held on FRIDAY, ~EBRUARY 16th, 195~
commen~ing at ONE O'CLOCK in the afternoon.

The following applications were.read for the position of Assistant-

MOVED by Mr. Clare Balsdon, seconded by Dr. Nell E. McEwen, that
Mr. A. J. Thompson, be appointed Assistant Assessor. MOTION LOST.
MOVED by Dr. N. E, McEwen, seconded by Mr. M. B. Burk, that Council
~-~-6t hire an Assistant-Assessor during the year 1951.' MOTION LOST.
MOVED by Mr. C. A. Balsdon, seconded by Dr. N. E. McEwen, that Mr.
~rthur J. Thompson be appointed Assistant-Assessor. CARRIED.
Messrs Mahoney and BentleY were heard regarding 1951 Taxi Licenses,
(two each).
MOVED by Mr. F. E. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. C. A. Balsdon, that two
~-~Licenses be issued to Bentley and two to Mahoney for 1951. CARRI~
MOVED by Dr. N. E. McEwen, seconded by Mr. F.E. Zinkie, that Rqy
Ward, Road Superintendent, be asked for his resignation by March
31st, 1951. MOTION LOST.
MOVED by Dr. N. E. McEwen, seconded by Mr. F. E. Zinkie,. that
~-~ard, Road Superintendent, be dismissed as of March 31st,

MOVED by Dr. N. E. McEwen, seconded by Mr. M.B.Burk, that Council
purchase for Road purposes the north-eas~ corner of Lot 15, Concessioz
from A. F. Percy, said parcel being 231 feet by 231 feet angle,
for $100.00 (One Hundred Dollars). CARRIED.

At 7 P.M. Council heard the Police Village Trustees, the High
School Principal and High School Beard Chairman, regarding water
for Picketing Village. A proposal was presented setting
forth the pros and cons of water from Ajax and water from wells,
together with costs :
From Wells . . . $136,800.
" Ajax .... 103,~300 ·
Advantage, Ajax $33,500.
The Trustees favored the Ajax system and, as Ajax required certain
zoning, it was MOVED by ~r. F.E.Zinkie, seconded by Dr. N.E.McEwen,
that Council as~ our Planning Board to give consideration to a
zoned area around Ajax, so as to assist Picketing Village to get
water. CARRIED.
