Mr. Redfern, of Proctor, Redfern & Laughlin
Water Engineer and
Mr. Kirk Of International Water Supply.
Mr. Redfern stated that he had inspected the Suuth Picketing area
and believed the population, spread over such a large area, could
not afford, at present, a water supply from a pumping station at the
Lake. It was his opinion the cost of water taken from wells, if
found, would be within the Area's ability to pay.
Mr. Kirk stated that the cost of installing a well at, possibly,
seventy feet (70') would be from $9,000. to $12,000. without a
pumphouse or water tower, and it may cost $1,500. to $3,000. to
locate a well. Such a well should give 100 gallons per
minute, and the cost of water possibly eight cents to twelve
cents (8~ - 12~) per thousand gallons.
It was agreed that the Picketing Villag~ Trustees should consider
the matter and then meet Council at 7 P.M. on ~riday, February
16th, 1951, at Brougham.
