HomeMy WebLinkAboutJuly 7, 1950 MU NI C I PAL BU'ILDI NG BROUGHAM An EMERGENTMEETING of Council was held on FRIDAYI JULY 7thl 19~0, commencing h~ '6 o'clock in the evening. PRE3ENT: Reeve W. H. Westney, in the Chair Deputy Reeve G. T. Todd Councillors C.A.Balsdon, M.B.Bu~k and F.E.Zinkie. CORRESPONDENCE 1. J. M. Mulligan ) Complaining about County bridge being ) out at Picketing Beach, and stating 2. Richard Lewis ) it is necessary in their farming operations. 3. J. R. Nixon, Co. of Ontario Engineer, asking that the Township sideline between Lots ~ and 5 in B.F.R.3 be re-opened so that an expensive bridge will hot be necessary. M~. FRANK W00D was heard about the stench from a Toronto Glue Factory re'fUse being dumped on property of Thomas Allen, Concession 2 Lot 27. Mr. Wood to get more information as to where the refuse came from and why - and Clerk to write Mr. Allen requesting information as to whether it is his intention to continue dumping this refuse and if it will be plowed under. ~OVEDbyMr.~ G~orge Todd, seconded by Mr. Clare Balsdon, that as ~his Council has had a number of complaints from local residents regarding the time the County bridge has been out in B.F.R.3 between lots ~ and 5 of this Township, and as the farmers farm lands on either side, this Council respectfully requests the Road Department of the County of Ontario, to give due consideration to having the bridge replaced. CARRIED. As the Chief Constable has recently asked for two more constables on our Police force, it was MOVED by Mr. Fred Zinkie, seconded by Mr. Milton Bu~k, that Council-'~-i-~e Mr. G. Channing and Mr. W. Higgins as probationary officers for six months at a salary of $1,8~0 per annum, and that the two additional officers use one extra car. CARRI~ NO. 1829 let Read, ns Mr. ~. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. G. Todd, moves for leave to introduce a By-law to license Pin-Ball Game Machines, and that same now be read a first time. 2nd Readin~ Mr. F. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. M. Bu~k, moves that By-law No.1829 to license Pin-Ball Machines, be now read a second time, and that the Council go into Committee of the whole thereon. 3rdReadins Mr. F. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. C. Balsdon, moves that the Report of the Committee of the W~xole on By-law No. 1829 be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a THIRD TIME and PASS~D; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED. -2- CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Advise Cliff~rd Schwalmnot to act as Dog- catcher until the By-law has been passed. 2. ASk Road Superintendent' to contact Whitby Township Road Engineer regarding Culvert' oh Town line south of No.2A Highway - as Mr. Lloyd believes the culvert is eighteen inches too high causing the water to back up on his property. 3. Arrange a meeting with Mr. Phin to see Scavboro' used Add~essograph and used Doubleday Enbos~er - also get information re new ones Secure from Scarboro, copies of by-laws on DOg Pounds and all licenses.
