BROUGHAM.
An EMERGENT MEETING of Council was held on Wednesday, March
2,gth, 1950, comnedcing at TWO o'Clock in the afternoon;
PB~.S.E .N~..: Reeve W. H. Westney, in the Chair and
Councillors George T~dd, Clare Balsdon,
Milton Burk and Fred Zinkie.
A petition signed by 552 names of residents (not verified)
was presented :-
''We, the umlersigned, being residents of this
Township, do hereby petition that J. Irvine
be retained as Chief Constable of the Township
ol~ Picketing, and that at least one additional
Constable be hired."

ionbe disregarded. DEFEAt.
The Clerk presented 45 applications for position of POLICE
CHIEF, a~d as the Police Committee had reduced these' to 11
~-~imination, 10 applicants were heard.~.
MOVED by Mr. Bu~k, seconded by Mr. Todd, that appointment
o-i~Chief Constable be held over until the regular meeting
of. C.ou~. c~il on Ap. ri! ?~ird next. MOTION LOST.
MOVED by M~. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that appointment
o-rTOhief Constable, be made immediately. MOTION LOST.
MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Zinkie, that Council
empty LOCKEART W. TRINNET.T., of Picketing R.R.2, as Chief
C onst ab lc. CARRIED.
MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Todd, that where any road
iS l~pass~ble, and in the opinion of a Councilman a small
drag wpuld help, any Councilman may authorize the employing
of any person to use a small drag pulled by either a tractor
or a three-horse te~_~, at the rate of $2.00 per hour for a
tractor and $1.50 per hour for a three,horse team. CARRIED.:
BY-LAW NUMBER 1815
Mr. George T~ld, seconded by Mr. Fred Zinkie, moves for 'leave
to introduce a by-law to assess the Municipality of the
Township of Picketing, for the year 1950, and that same now
be read a first time.
Mr. George Todd, seconded by Mr. Milton Burk, moves tb_~_t
By-Law No. 1815 to assess the Municipality of the Township
of Picketing fc~ the year 1950, be now read a second time,
and that the Council go into Committee of the whole thereon;
Mr. George Todd, seconded by Mr. Clare Balsdon, moves that
the report c~ the con~nittee of the whole on By-law No. 1815
be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a third time
and PAS&~ED; that the Clerk and Reeve sign the same, and that
_the seal Of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED.

to introduce a By-law to appoint a Police Chief for Picketing
Township, and that same now be read a First time.

Mr. F. E. Zinkie, seconded by M~. G. Todd, moves that By-law
No. 1816 to appoint a Police Chief for Picketing Township, be
now read a Second time, and that the Council go into Corem_ ittee
of the whole thereon.
Mr. F. E. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. C. Balsdon, moves that the
Repot cf the Committee of the Whole on By-law No. 1816 be
adopted, and th~__t the said By-law be now read a Third time
and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the s,_me, and that
the se~l' "of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CAR.RIED.
