An EMERGENT MEETING of Council was held on Ma~ch l~th, 1950, at
the hour of 7.30 in the evening. All members were present.
Police Chief J. B. Irvine was heard regarding the Police
Committee's report.
MOVED by M~. Geo. Todd, seconded by Nm. Clare Balsdon, that
Clause 6 of the Police Recommendation be rescinded, and shall
read as follows:-
"That a Police Committee be formed comprising
Members of Police Department as named in
the Standing Committees on February 3rd, 1950 -
namely, F~ed. E. Zinkie, Chai~man, M.B.Bu~k and
C.A.Balsdon, Members.
CARRIED.
MOVED by M~. Balsdon, seconded by N~. Ztnkie, that Council
call for applications for position of POLICE CHIEF, at a salary
of $2,600. per year, plus seven and one half c®nts (7~) per
mile for use of ca, while on Township business. CARRIED.
MOVED by M~. Zinkte, seconded by M~. Todd, that the Clerk make
an appointment for two Members of Council to meet Mr. Miller of
the Department of Highways relative to connecting links between
Highways No. 2 and No. 2.A. CARRIED.
CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS.
(1) Call for applications for Police Chief in "Globe & Mail"
and "Oshawa Times-Gazette" March 16th, 17th and 18th, last day
March 28th. Meeting March 29th at 2 P.M. Advise Police
Chief of such applications.
(2) Advise Roy Ward to get shovel from Toronto to sell
locally, and t~ put a hot mix on Church Street as soon as
weather permits.
