Todd . .Councillor Clare A. Balsdon " Milton B. Burk " Fred E. Zinkie The MINUTES of the February 1st, 1950 meeting were read and On 'MOTION of Mr. Todd, seconded by Hr. Burk, ADOPTS. The MINUTES of the meeting on February 3rd, 1950, were read and on-~ON of Mr. Burk, seconded by Hr. Balsdon, ~ADOPTED. The MINUTES of the February 24th meeting were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Todd, seconded by Mr. Burk, ADOPTED. C 0RRESP 0NDENC_E: 1. Mrs. Leonard Hollinger requesting that road south of CherryWood be kept free from snow. Council agreed road must be improved before it could be plowed. Clerk advise. 2. J.R. Nixon, County Engineer, asking the Township if they ne~d c'xJushe'd stone to tender with the County. Clerk to advise that we require none as we have our own supply· 3. A.A.Archibal_d, Public School Inspector, complained abou~ our Auditors not having school books audited by February 23rd when the law requires them to be done by January 31st each year. 4. Police .Report, February 1950. 5.' Salvation Amm7 - Thanks for the $150. grant. · 6. ~a. E. S. Scott, Woodlands, asking for price of installati~ of c Vet . . 7. B.T. Smith complained about the surface water from Central Mortgage &: Housing Corgoration being forced on his Picketing Bea, p~operty. Clerk instructed to advise that Council would look over the situation in early Spring when they view the roads. 8. CoDy of letter from J.E. McKee to Roy N~rd asking Mr. Nard to view his road fence. · 9. H.L. Fair, Agricultural Representative at Uxbridge, thankil the Council for Grant of $25.00 to the Ontario County Crop Impro~ merit · 10. ~, south half of Lot 35, Concession 1, asking for b~ush to be cleared from in front of his land on road, as he has sold sixteen pamcels of land. Oshawa General Hca 11. ital asking the Township to.pay. $2.50 per day instead of $1.2~5 for indigent persons as they _claim the cost is approximately $10.00 per day. Clerk instructed to advise that they are awaiting the result o£ the petition from County Council asking the Province for a greater grant. -2- CORRESPONDENCE: Cont'd: 12. The Committee on Police matters presented their report and'recommended as follows :- 1. That a daily log boo~ be kept by each Constable stating the time and place of his calls, and a complete report of their daily calls be turned in on the last day of each month to the Police Co, tree of the Council. On this r~port will be an accurate .~ail~ mileage to coincide with the above calls. 2. That each Constable MUST d~ his share of POLICE duties, to the intere--~of the Township of'Picketing. ~3. Appointment of four special constables (for emergency Use only) th~uughout the Township. That the services of a well-qualified Chief of Police be obtained without further delay. 5- As the greater portion of the population dwell south of the 3~d Concession, it is felt that it is only fair that an adjustment be made on future tax asasssments and the greater portion be borne by those living within this area, namely, south of the Third Concassion. It is felt that the greater majority dwelling in our Township would like to maintain our own Police Force, and that two-thirds of the policing cost be borne .by those in the south and one third of the cost by those in the north. Our Police Force must be available to those residing in the north as well as the south. 6. That a Police Commission be set up within ~he Township consisting of three members. ON MOTION the followin~ PERSONS WERE HEARD:- 1. R.E. Reeaor and delegation from Fourth Concession - west from~ock Road to Clark's Hollow - asking that their two miles of road be paved, and stating they .were p~epa~ed to pay $1,000. fo~ this service to their 27 homes. Council agreed to give this consideration. 2. ~. Henderson, owner of part of lands on ~ms~ side of sidelihe between lots No. 26 and 27 in ~he Thir~ Concession - asking that he receive a deed fo~ the east half of sideline, the said sideline having been pu~hased by a previous owi~e~ of his farm from the Township hut no deed issued. 3. Ross I~win and C.E..Morle[ of Picketing Village, asked for ~ther infox~mation concerhing water for Picketing Village. ~.' MessPs. Grills and Knox ~f Fairport Beach - askiag Council to act on su~fac'e wate9 d~ainage, and again advising of the fast soil erosion on their lake bank. 5. BALS.DON presented a ~eport of his Committee on mp~ov~ments" ~eSpecting operation of issuance of Building Permits, as follows:- 1. ApPlications for Building Permits be issued in triplicate, - Building Inspector, AsseSsor and Clerk. 2. Call cards tacked up with pe~t showing calls made by the 'Building Inspector. 3- Tha,t Permits be~ issued Tuesday and Saturday of each week between the hours of 12.30 and 2 P.M. or other times by appointment. ~.. Salary of Building Inspector to be $1,000.' plus seven cents per mile for car expense while on Township busine s s. 5- Building By-laws be printed in, small book form. 6. 100 Notices be posted advising where and.how to .obtain BuildiDg Permits. 7. Building Perm~ t~Fees be turned over to the T~easurer of the Township by the Building Inspector. 8. That the Building Inspector charge fees as per s che dul ·.
