BROUGHAM.
An EMERGENT MEETING of Council was held on FRIDAY, JANUARY~13th,
1950 at EIGHT O'CLOCK in the evening.
MEMBERS'PRESENT:
Reeve Wm. H. Westney, in the Chair
Councillors George Todd
Clare Balsdon and
Milton Burk.
ON MOTION the following persons were heard :-
1. ROSS IRWIN, Chairman of the High School Board, submitted
a proposed plan, as passed by the Board, for the new school,
together with figures of receipts and expenditures for the
year 1949 of the Board. ~
2. C.E.MORLEY again asked Council to consider the Township
installing a water supply for Picketing Village and surrounding
area.
MOVED by Mr. Clare Balsdon, seconded by Mr. George Todd, that the
~ contact Messrs Gore & Storrie to secure their advice about
water being given to area outside Picketing Village. CARRIED.
MOVED by Mr. Todd, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that Reg Wells be given
~--~-A-~i license. CARRIED.
Owing to the death of Deputy-Reeve-Elect E. Frank Disney, Councillor
George Todd submitted his resignation as Councillor to offer himself
as a Candidate for Deputy-Reeve for 1950.
MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Burk, that the resignation of
Mr. George Todd as Councillor, be accepted. CARRIED.
BY-LAW N0.1809.
Mr. M.B.Burk, seconded by Mr. C.A.Balsdon, moves for leave to
introduce a By-law to appoint theplace and hour for receiving
nominations for the offices of Deputy Reeve and one Councillor,
and the places for holding the election thereof and persons to
preside as Deputy Returning Officers and Poll Clerks; and that
same now be read a first time.
Mr. M.B.BU~k, seconded by Mr. C.A.Balsdon, moves that By-law No.1809
to appoint place and hour for Nomination Meeting, places for holding
election and D.R.O.'s and Poll Clerks, be now read a second time and
that Council go into Committee of the whole thereon.
Mr. M.B.Burk, seconded by Mr. C.A.Balsdon, moves that the Report of
the Committee of the whole on By-law No. 1809 be adopted, and that
the said By-law be now read a THIRD TIME and PASSED; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same, and that the seal of the Corporation be
affixed thereto. CARRIED.
ON MOTION the meeting then adjourned.
