A meeting of the Pickering Township
Council was held on MONDAY, the
THIRTIETH day of SEPTEMBER, 1968 at
9:05 p.m.
Council of the Township of Pickering
convened in a Council meeting to deal
with the following matter.
PRESENT:
Reeve J. R. Williams
Deputy Reeve R. Chatten
Councillors - V. Rudik
D. Beer
Do Kitchen
A. King
J. Kruger
Clerk D. J. Plitz
The Committee discussed the Hunting By-law in considerable length,
in particular the following.
1.
Discharge of fire arms in built up areas.
Councillor Rudik was of the opinion the By-law should designate
all built up areas as areas where the discharge of fire arms
is prohibited. It was recommended that a By-law be prepared
showing the hamlets and built up areas as a schedule to the
By-law.
2.
The penalty with respect to misuse of fire arms.
MOTION
Moved by Reeve J. Williams, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger,
that the penalty for any person convicted of a breach of the
provisions of the By-law be increased from the present $50.00
to the maximum of $300.00.

Moved by Reeve Williams, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger
that the penalty for any person convicted of a breach of the
provision of the Br-law be increased from the present $50.00
to the maximum of ~250.00.

By-law Number 3546
Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of
Pickering to prohibit the discharge of firearms within a
defined area in the Township of Pickering, and that same
now be read a first time.

Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor V. Rudik,
moves that By-law Number 3546 to prohibit the discharge of
firearms within a defined area in the Township of Pickering
be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee
of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law
as read.
Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor D. Beer,
moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on
By-law Number 3545 be adopted, and that the said By-law be
now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk
sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be a£fixed
thereto.

J. Kruger, that Resolution #254/68 be rescinded aI!tCiL that the
tender of Talpark Motors at the price of $2,587.41 for a side
door van be accepted.

The Council meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m. to reconvene into
Committee of the Whole Council.
