ADOPTION OF MINUTEg
Moved by Councillor BeerL seconded by Councillor A. King,
that the minutes of the ~ickering Township Council held on
March 18, 1968, be adopted as presented.
CARRIED
Councillor J. Kruger felt that Resolution 7l/68 in paragraph
fi ve should read tiTherefore the Council resolves that this
matter be given serious consideration............ ww rather than
WfTherefore the Committee of Adjustment respectfully recommends
that Council give this matter serious consideration......... tv

CORRESPONDENCE
Councillor Jo Kruger submits correspondence from Mr. Stanley
Frost, P.-Eng., M~E.I_G., a resident of Pickering Township.
Mr. Frost suggests that the advantages of location in respect
to waterfront facilities be considered to induce industry to
locate in this area.
Copies to Council.
Mr. John F. Brewin of Harries, Houser, Brown, Houlden &
McCallum, Barristers and Solicitors, advises that Mr. James
F. MaCallum, Q. C. will be acting as senior counsel for the
Township in the Court of Appeal re Corporation of the Township
of Pickering and Swan, and that the matter will not be heard
before Mayor possibly June of 1968.
Mr. Ken Harrison, Secretary-Treasurer of the Municipality of
the Township of Brock advises of a meeting to be held at 8 p.m.
on April 8, 1968, in the Township Hall at Sunderland to discuss
the future role of local government in the County of Ontario.
An invitation is extended to the Clerk and two representatives
of the municipality to attend this meeting.
Mr. A. W. Tyas, Business Administrator, School Board, School
Area #2, on behalf of the Chairman and Trustees of School
Area #2 expresses to members of Council appreciation of the
interest, understanding and co-operation shown in connection
with current financial problems. The results of Council's
action and co-operation in making additional revenue available
this year has enabled the School Board to benefit the taxpayers
by way of a reduction in the levy and mill rate.
Normal R. Millen Limited, Real Estate Brokers, re Viking sale
to Pickering Township, forwards Township's copy of the Agreement
which has been accepted by the Vendor.

REPORTS
Report from the Assessment Department showing residential and
farm assessments as equalized by the Province of Ontario for
the purpose of the re-organization of school jurisdictions in
the Province of Ontario.

BY-LAW~
By-law Number 3483
Councillor J. KrugerJ seconded by Deputy Reeve R. ChattenJ
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of
Pickering to levy such rates against all the assessed
properties in the Township of Pickering as will be required
to operate the various Public, Separate and High School Boards,
and to pay the Debentures and Interest falling due for Schools
in the year 1968 and that same now be read a first time.
Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor A. King, moves
that By-law Number 3483 to levy such rates against all the
assessed properties in the Township of Pickering as will be
required to operate the various Public, Separate and High
School Boards, and to pay the Debentures and Interest falling
due for schools in the year 1968 be now read a second time,
and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as
read.
Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen,
moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on
By-law Number 3483 be adopted and that the said By-law be
now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk
sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto.

RESOLUTIONS
Resolution #74/68
MOVED by Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor
J. Kruger, that the 1968 levy to meet the Pickering District
High School operating expense at 32.6 Residential and 36.2
Commercial, be accepted under strong protest due to the fact
that the Provincial share of the costs has dropped from 44.56%
in 1967 to 42.84% in 1968, as recommended by the Committee of
the Whole Council on March 22,1968, and that a copy of this
Resolution be forwarded to the Hon. William G. Davis, Minister
of Education.

Resolution #75/68
MOVED by Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor
D. Kitchen that the Kinsmen Club of Bay Ridges be authorized
to canvass the Bay Ridges area on March Jl, 1968, to sell
fertilizer to assist in raising funds for their organization.

Resolution #76/68
MOVED by Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor
A. King, that the contract of Ajax and Rug Services for the
amount of $8,400.00 be accepted and the Clerk arrange and be
responsible for the changeover, as recommended by the Committee
of the Whole Council on March 22, 1968.

Resolution #77/68
~
MOVED by Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Deputy Reeve
R. Chatten, that whereas the Township of Pickering is
presently considering the future development pattern for the
Hamlet of Greenwood, and
WHEREAS it appears that this Study will conclude that the 6th
Concession may not be required west of the Greenwood Road to
Highway No.7, and
WHEREAS the County of Ontario and DoH.O. also have certain
proposals affecting the Hamlet of Greenwood, be it therefore
resolved that the Township Engineer be instructed to inform
the County Engineer that the Council of the Township of
Pickering wishes that the proposed 196s re-construction of
the bridge over Duffins Creek at Concession 6 be postponed
until 1969 so that further consideration may be given by the
Council to the future development pattern of Greenwood.
